Anne Hathaway Does A Split for Meryl Streep

During the recent 34th Annual Kennedy Center Honors, the legendary Meryl Streep was paid tribute to during the star studded event. And one of the most memorable scenes of the night was Anne Hathaway singing ‘She’s Me Pal’ for Streep, her co-star in the award winning ‘Devil Wears Prada.’

The young actress impressed everyone not just with her elegant voice but also with her routine that included a quick split. The form was perfect but of course Hathaway made it believe through her facial expression as it truly hurt. She also kiddingly gestured for other stars on stage like Kevin Kline and Stanley Tucci to help her up.

Emily Blunt also joined the act and all of them sang the song to the chorus as they shared each a toast. They raised all their drinks to Streep to give salute to her years of being an excellent film actress and the rest of her amazing contributions in the cinematic field.

James Franco On His Review For ‘Breaking Dawn’

James Franco can now add to his list of credentials being a movie critic especially with his recent review of ‘The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 1.’ In his article for ‘The Paris Review,’ he compared the said film with an Oscar hopeful movie of Clooney called ‘The Descendants.’ He made a lot of good points with regards to the two movies and the way it used sex as a theme and even to the point of ‘devaluing motherhood.’

All the quotes he made in his review are worth the read and we have quoted some of the most memorable ones here. Check them out below straight from James Franco’s article:

“‘The Descendants’ and ‘Breaking Dawn’ were released on the same weekend. Undoubtedly one is making a play for an Oscar. Undoubtedly the other will dominate every MTV award category, including best kiss, best dude moment, best male shirtless scene, and whatever else the network that produces ‘the Jersey Shore’ celebrates.”

“A few other forbidden territories are broken in as well. The protagonists finally marry, having waited until the wise old age of eighteen, and since the book and the film dutifully show them being wed, they are then allowed to f— each others’ brains out. For a film that claims to be sexually responsible, the ‘Twilight’ movies are awfully dependent on teenage sex to attract viewers.”

We are sure all of Franco’s fans would wish he would not be too busy to be able to maintain his writing stints and share to the world his pure and straightforward thoughts.

Keanu Reeves Rides Subway and Gives Seat To Woman

There has been a roaming video over the Net which shows the handsome actor Keanu Reeves riding the subway. He sits on the crowded train alone and it was posted in YouTube last August. The ‘Matrix’ star even have his own seat to a lady who rode the train and was standing.

It can be truly sweet and heartwarming to see such a big actor to still live like he is a common person and still look out for others even inside the subway. It just makes me wonder why it seems that no one seems to identify him as an A-list actor or are they just playing things cool? But of course, the one who noticed was the one who shot the video.

Keanu Reeves is set to appear next in ’47 Ronin’ which is a fantasy film and will hit the big screen by Nov. 21, 2012.

‘Alvin & The Chipmunks: ChipWrecked’ Movie Review

This Chipmunks movie is more relaxed as they all go for a holiday cruise along with the Chipettes. They travel with their owner played by Jason Lee. As troubles arise along the way, they must all find a way to travel within the island and learn how to escape it in time together. This movie of the Chipmunks is different this time since it focuses less on their little voice singing and their tiny feet dancing. Instead the creators focused on their shenanigans.

To compensate for the lack of the usual song numbers, the creators instead filled up the movie with scorings that are equally interesting starting off with the rendition of the Chipmunks for Pink’s ‘Trouble’ song. The songs that can be heard here are taken from the latest era of bubblegum pop genre while their previously made films were good choices but the chipmunks version ruined it instead. The true problem of the matter is that no matter how interestingly cute the chipmunks may be, their high pitched voices that seem screeching at times already can be irritating for anyone who is already above 10 years old.

There are still a lot of goofy situations in the film including the dance off of the Chipettes. The only thing that the film excelled at the most is the appearance of David Cross being the arch nemesis. Most of genuine laughs you would get from the film can be noticed to have been due the one liners of Cross that are all hilariously funny. You would even suspect that maybe he improvised it himself. This movie is something that can really entertain the youngest of kids for a short amount of time. Good thing they did not ride the usual trend of the 3D technology which could have been a very tempting step to take.

Just imagine how irritating it could be to see them in 3D while you also get to listen to their high-pitched voices. In short, this film is perfect for a family friendly date. It can make everyone wonder why they did not make it in 3D and it will continue allowing everyone to question Jason Lee and stop all of this now.

Trailer for ‘The Dictator’ Conquers America

The latest role of Sacha Baron Cohen was shown in the latest trailer of his new film ‘The Dictator.’ It features a great mix of ‘Bruno’ and ‘Borat’ into a film that is more traditional in its narrative approach.

It is basically about a dictator who lays down his life on the line to make sure that democracy will never come to the country that he loves to oppress. This means going to the US to encounter everyone from the 9/11 jokes and to a seemingly for sale Megan Fox.

It is directed by the regular collaborator of Cohen, Larry Charles. It also stars John Reilly, Anna Faris and the amazing Ben Kingsley. It will hit the big screen by May.

Rooney Mara’s Training for ‘Dragon Tattoo’ Went As To Attacking A Guest In A Wedding

It cannot be helped if actors would go deeper than the usual in exploring the characters they will play. Their roles can just suddenly pop even in the scenes of their real lives as real people.

Mara received a Golden Globe nomination for her role as Lisbeth Salander in ‘The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo.’ She mentioned during her interview with David Letterman that she somehow acted in defense like her role during a wedding of her friend when some drunk guy tries to harass her.

As for the actress, she said that it is really hard to come out of the character you have portrayed so deeply. She said that he grabbed the throat of the drunk guest and said her Lisbeth lines, “Put me down. I will hurt you.”

Check out more of her in the film by December 20.

The Remake of ‘American Psycho’ Is Already Heating Things Up

The government regulation is not what Wall Street should just plainly worry about. Noble Jones, the writer, has been hired to do an adaptation of the ‘American Psycho’ novel written by Brest Easton Ellis.

It was first brought to life in a movie made way back in 1998 that starred Christian Bale being Patrick Bateman – the character of a wealth banker who hides as a serial killer. With all the anti-Wall Street thing going on right now, a film to be made about killing a one-percenter can truly bring a lot of sense. The entire story is set during the boom of the 1980s Wall Street and hence you can expect Jones to play the culture to the excessive maximum.

Whoever will play the role of Bateman this time around will surely have a lot to fill in especially with Bale’s performance in the original version as amazing. We just hope that the director will also keep all the news and Huey Lewis references.

Katherine Heigl Will Star In ‘The Follower’

The former ‘Grey’s Anatomy’ star is set to flex some muscles as she has closed the negotiations towards doing ‘The Follower.’ It is a thriller film written by the same director and screenwriter of ‘Chaos’ Tony Giglio. He also wrote the one for ‘Death Race 2’ and ‘Death Race 3.’

There are still no details about the major plot of the film but to consider the former work of Giglio, one can surely expect that there would be couples of cars to be thrown in the story.

Apart from ‘The Follower,’ she also had her own producer credits for some of her movies which include the 2009 ‘The Ugly Truth’ and also with 2010’s ‘As We Know It.’

She will soon star in a film that she will once again produce called ‘One For The Money’ which is based on a book written by Janet Evanovich. The actress is seen in the star-packed movie ‘New Year’s Eve’ which will open this weekend and just had its premiere as well.

‘The Sitter’ Movie Review

‘The Sitter’ is a comedy movie about a college student undergoing suspension and pushed into babysitting some kids next door. And yes, he is totally unprepared with the wild night ahead of him and the kids.

The plot is pretty much familiar already. There is this guy who does not like hanging around with kids but he is left with no choice but to babysit three. Then everything wrong that you can possibly imagine happens. With all these, the movie all becomes too predictable. The three kids of course clash with the babysitter all throughout the entire movie until they reach to a point of eventually getting all cozy and warmed up for each other.

There are lots of awkwardly done bonding scenes for the kids and the lead character. I say it’s awkward because it somehow feels that it is so unnatural. It simply has too many unrealistic elements as it progresses on to its ending. It just continued to become more and more ridiculous as it moves on. For the usual audience, this can send out everyone laughing. But of course, for the more serious critics, it will be no fun at all. Well, at least it has its own funny element – that it did not make any critic laugh.

It has its own edges but it is not that good in majority of the perspectives that you would look at it. The storyline is something you would consider as overused making it not funny but totally unrealistic. It will make you feel embarrassed that it wasted the time of many talented people involved in it.

The strong performances surprisingly came from the movie’s supporting cast. There were a lot of queasy laughs here and now but all in all, it is a movie that showcases the goofiness of Hill along with his regular Joe personality. The script may just simply let you down that all you can hope for in the end is to find it becoming better and funnier eventually.
