Brad Pitt Treads Battlefield with “World War Z”

After battling with age in “The Curious Case of Benjamin Button” and “Inglorious Basterds”, the 46-year old actor regarded as the most attractive man in the world, Brad Pitt prepares to exchange blows with zombies in “World War Z”. The movie will be based on a bestselling post-apocalyptic horror tale by Max Brooks in 2006 entitled “World War Z: An Oral History of the Zombie War”. The novel is written in first-person that relates a series of events of a decade of Zombie War by a United Nations agent who was in-charge of Postwar Commission.

Brad Pitt’s Plan B Entertainment won the bid in 2007 for the rights of the book and film adaptation against fellow actor Leonardo DiCaprio’s Appian Way production company. The role that Pitt will be playing is still unknown, but speculations are certain that he will be playing the UN agent who made the interviews and collected individual stories. The actor is currently busy shooting for “Moneyball”. The author Brooks has somehow dropped a revelation during an interview at Comic-Con in San Diego about Pitt’s role in the movie. J. Michael Straczynski will be responsible for the screenplay and Marc Foster of “Quantum of Solace” has already signed to direct the film.

“World War Z” will be released under the flagship of Paramount Pictures and is expected to hit theaters in 2012. The film studio has expressed interest in obtaining rights for Max Brooks’ two other books: “The Zombie Survival Guide” and “Zombie Survival Guide: Recorded Attacks”.
