Channing Tatum as ‘Captain America’?

Announcement regarding the making of Captain America: First Avenger has tremendously enlivened many a fan of the comic book. It’s Marvel’s newest planned film and John Krasinski might actually fill the lead role of Captain America. Then Hugo Weaving will be portraying the frightening skeletal Red Skull.

However, there have been talks that Channing Tatum is going to make it to its list of potential stars that will be playing Captain America and his human alter-ego Steve Rogers. There is a gamut of actors who are possible Captain America fillers such as Garrett Hedlund, Mike Vogel, Ryan Phillippe, Chris Evans, or Wilson Bethel.

Channing has been interviewed about his take on being Captain America. He told Inside Movies that he would love to play the iconic comic book hero but he thinks that there’s someone else who is up for the role. He also thinks that, “actor is a jillion times bigger and probably better for it. I’ve heard that Will Smith was toying around with it. But I would love to play Captain America, I dig his story.”

Marvel is also seeking actors who will fill in Steve Rogers’ love interest, namely Betsy Ross. Kiera Knightly has been assumed to take on the spot but the studio has not confirmed any plans as of now. There has been a lot of shifting around when it comes to playing Steve Rogers and there has been mighty confusion on all sides. However, fans of Captain America can be rest assured that the top choice for the hero will be satisfactory.

So, the question is, is Tatum fit to play Captain America? Indeed, he does. But there are lots of false assumptions. Tatum is one strong actor and he plays his character roles incredibly well. He already played a G.I. Joe Soldier and he appears to be natural in a fighting stance.
