‘Fast and the Furious 5′ In the Works

The famous car enthusiast franchise “The Fast and Furious” returns to the big screen with its fifth and final instalment, “Fast Five”. Quickly signing up to return for the franchise are veteran favourites Vin Diesel, Paul Walker, director Justin Lin, and producer Neal H. Moritz.

Written by 2009’s “Fast & Furious” scribe Chris Morgan, the film would be picking up where Brian O’Conner (Walker) and Dom Teretto (Diesel) left off running from the law. Expectation for this final instalment is high considering Morgan is on board. His previous work on the 2009 version of the “Fast & Furious” became Universal’s top-grossing film last year with over $350 million in sales worldwide. For its last shot, the film is in the good hands of veterans. Currently, the collective earnings of the franchise is nearly $1 billion worldwide.

The new movie would mark Diesel’s return to past successes after a string of box-office disappointments. “Fast Five” and his upcoming reprisal of his lead role in “XXX: The Return of Xander Cage” could be the probable boost needed by the actor’s career.

Later this year, “Fast Five” would begin production to make it in time for its scheduled 2011 release.
