M. Night Shyamalan’s latest outing on box office, “The Last Airbender” is already running in theaters at present. In fact, it’s running far better than anyone has ever expected it would do. With the unforeseen success of his latest project, many people are asking, what would be the next project for the director?
Reports suggest that the future of the filmmaker currently remains a mystery. However, one thing seems to be certain, the team-up of M. Night and Bradley Cooper may no longer be an event to look forward to.
For a time now, sources have confirmed that M. Night has been shopping his latest super-secret thriller project around Hollywood. The filmmaker is eager to cast in his production Bruce Willis, Gwyneth Paltrow, and his ever-trusted actor Cooper. However, the last name would most likely not be included anymore due to unavoidable scheduling conflicts.
Shymalan himself confirms the news saying. “’Hangover 2’. I don’t think Bradley can do it because of that.”
M. Night had specifically voiced his desire to come up with the thriller before he begins work on the second installment of “The Last Airbender” trilogy. Shyamalan shares, “A trilogy, that’s the intention, and the hope, but it [the first 'Last Airbender'] has to do well. I have to get the call [from Paramount] that says ‘Go ahead and do it.‘”
At present, “The Last Airbender” seems to be in good shape so far with over $70 million in earnings since it came out on July 1 despite the rain of negative reviews. It also managed to garner a fair amount of sales even if it is currently head to head against the mighty forces of “The Twilight Saga: Eclipse” earning over $175 million since its release.
