‘Inglourious Basterds’ wins SAG film award

The Screen Actors Guild Awards seemed like a replay of the Golden Globes and a sneak preview of the upcoming Oscars as there were quite a number of similar awards handed out. Bridges of “Crazy Heart”, Bullock of “The Blind Side”, Mo’Nique of “Precious”, and Christoph Waltz of “Inglourious Basterds” were took home awards once more for their acting prowess. Previously in the Golden Globes held Sunday, the four were also given exemplary recognition. Meanwhile James Cameron as expected was named best director while “Avatar” earned the title best drama.

His greatest competition for the upcoming Oscars is director Quentin Tarantino’s “Inglourious Basterds” which took home the best ensemble performance award. Last year, the recipient of the award, “Slumdog Millionaire” went on to bag the best picture in the Oscar. With the award on Tarantino’s belt, the likelihood of “Inglourious Basterds” receiving the same fate at the upcoming Oscars is high.

Cast member Eli Roth expresses his gratitude during the acceptance speech for the award saying, “It was an honor to be part of it, Quentin”.

Other winners for the night included “Mad Men” for best drama series ensemble, previous Golden Globe winner, newcomer “Glee” for best comedy series ensemble, Alec Baldwin and Tina Fey of “30 Rock” for best acting in a comedy series, previous Golden Globe winner Michael C. Hall of “Dexter” for best actor in a drama series, Julianna Margulies of “The Good Wife” for best actress in a drama, Kevin Bacon of “Tacking Chance” for best actor in a movie or miniseries, and Drew Barrymore of “Grey Gardens” for best actress.
