On Monday night, filmmaker Quentin Tarantino launches the Blu-ray / DVD version of his film “Inglourious Basterds” in New Beverly Cinema in Hollywood. During the events, Tarantino lets fans in on the exciting announcement that the highly anticipated sequel for “Kill Bill” is currently in the works.
When Tarantino created the “Kill Bill” films, he proved to Hollywood that he was the go-to man for creating adventurous roles for female stars. Though he provided Uma Thurman a huge break as The Bride in both “Kill Bill” and its sequel, he believes she needs more rest time. He humorously states, “The Bride has got to get 10 years older. I put the Bride [and Uma] through such hell in volume 1 and 2; she deserves a decade of peace.”
Meanwhile his latest production, “Inglourious Basterds” has earned four Golden Globes and three SAG nods this past week alone. Tarantino openly shares his delight on the unexpected success of the film saying, “It has been ridiculously gratifying. I couldn’t be more pleased as punch about [the film's warm reception] — that’s really exciting.”
Tarantino also touches on the subject of the handling of the World War II history stating, “I might have been nervous if I had thought a lot about [turning history on its head] and that had been the intention [all along],” Tarantino pointed out. “When I flipped the script on history, it literally happened just before I [finished writing]. So I didn’t have time to debate it or think about it.”
The launch featured “Basterds” stars themselves: Diane Kruger, Eli Roth, B.J. Novak, Omar Doom, and Sam Levine. The event began with seven handpicked trailers of movies that served as inspiration for “Inglourious Basterds” including war classics “The Big Red One” and “Kelly’s Heroes” being featured before the main show.
Both Blu-ray and DVD versions of “Inglourious Basterds” are now available in the market.
