The third installment of the “Men In Black” franchise might see the addition of good ‘ol boy Josh Brolin in the cast. The “No Country for Old Men” and “W” actor is currently in negotiations to join Will Smith and Tommy Lee Jones for “MIB 3”.
At present, Sony hasn’t given the go signal to begin with production, but Smith and Jones have both agreed to return for the franchise as Agents J and K. Even director Barry Sonnenfeld who helmed the first two films has agreed to work on a third.
Brolin has proven in his upcoming roles in “True Grit” remake and “Wall Street 2” his versatility in acting from drama to action and even to comedy as seen in his role in “W”. At present, his role for “MIB 3” remains undecided.
Since the first two films, the “MIB” franchise has struggled in introducing new, major characters including Lara Flynn-Boyle’s Serleena who didn’t stand out as a menacing villain in “Men In Black 2” and Rosario Dawson as Agent J’s love interest has failed miserably.
The foundation of “MIB” has always been the good chemistry shared by Smith and Jones. Brolin who had formed good rapport with Jones in “No Country” and “In the Valley of Elah” may just be the right choice for the third installment.
