Jason Priestley, the former “Beverly Hills” and “90210” heartthrob is back on directorial duties once more. Recently he had been hired to direct an upcoming romantic comedy focusing on wine and frogs. The movie entitled “Mud Puppy” is “about a playboy wine-lover battling a female environmentalist for control of a frog-plagued wine vineyard”
The actor-turned-director is no stranger to wines. Aside from owning his winery business based in British Columbia, he also co-hosts the celebrity wine series “Hollywood and Vines” making him the perfect choice for the project. Apparently, “Mud Puppy” is coined from real-life events that happened at a different BC winery overrun by amphibians.
At present, no casting news has emerged yet. There’s plenty of time to consider which stars would fit the roles for production is not schedule to begin until summer of 2011. Important characters that should be filled in include the playboy vintner and the environmentalist. Telefilm Canada and Corus Entertainment are overseeing the developments.
Aside from working on several TV films, Priestley had also showcased his directorial skills in series such as “The Lake” and “The Secret Life of the American Teenager”.
