Paul Greengrass is heading into more profitable terrain by going on a Fantastic Voyage, a remake of the 1966 sci-fi thriller being produced by James Cameron’s Lightstorm Entertainment production company. The original film centers on a dying scientist whose survival depends on group of scientists who are shrunken into miniature sizes and injected into the ailing Soviet scientist’s bloodstream.
The film was made during the height of the Cold War and the tale follows all these extraordinary biological adventures the crew of scientists stumble upon in trying to save the scientist and themselves as well.
However, the new version will be near the original although it marks the absence of the Cold War element. News has it that it will add some ostentatious and modernized special effects and will be delivered in 3D.
That’s good news for movie folks in these modern times as the 3D component will surely snatch some people’s interests and gather a following in anticipation for the film. The script will be written by Shane Salerno and will be distributed by 20th Century Fox. There are no reports yet on who will be cast in Fantastic Voyage. Roland Emmerich and Tarsem Singh were heard to be tapped as potential directors for the 3D film.
Paul Greengrass is to be credited for his popular action-suspense films including The Bourne Supremacy and The Bourne Ultimatum. He’s also known to have this kinetic rickety camera style, a trademark that marks him as the director that he is which effectively brings out dramatic flourishes and political elements.
