Quentin Tarantino may be headed off to the Southern genre. Recent reports confirm that Tarantino recently mentioned how his next project might be to create a new twist to the Western genre that focuses on slavery.
At an Oscar luncheon, the 46-year-old-director spills, “Let’s shine that light on ourselves. You could do a ponderous history lesson of slaves escaping on the Underground Railroad. Or, you could make a movie that would be exciting. Do it as an adventure. A spaghetti Western that takes place during that time. And I would call it ‘A Southern.’”
The truth and seriousness of the issue still remains unknown. For now, only Tarantino is aware whether the announcement was simply a speculation or a reality in the future. Many are clinging more toward the rumour signal as Tarantino also shares candidly in the same interview his reverence for marijuana and how he manages to restrain himself while moviemaking. He also adds how his “Inglourious Basterds” star shares the same experience.
The rise of speculations is no big deal for Tarantino who had always been an open book when it came to his future intentions. However, the best time to confirm the possibility of a Tarantino flick only happens once the trailer is officially released.
For the meantime, Tarantino would next be seen on March 7th at the Kodak Theatre for the 82nd annual Academy Awards where he’s been nominated for two categories: Best Director and Best Original Screenplay for “Inglourious Basterds”.
