Sandra Bullock for a Razzie

The much-dreaded news in Hollywood arrived this morning as the official nominations for the 30^th annual Golden Raspberry Awards were finally announced. The main focus of the freshly released report was Oscar frontrunner Sandra Bullock. Despite receiving the best honours in her career this year for her performance in “The Blind Side”, her portrayal in “All About Steve” wasn’t missed by critics and earned her a Worst Actress nomination. The film itself garnered other nominations including Worst Picture, Worst Director, and Worst Couple (Bullock and co-star Bradley Cooper).

Leading the race in nominations with 7 each are films “Land of the Lost” and “Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen”. True to its nature, Razzie never failed to dishonour some of Hollywood’s most acclaimed stars including their recurrent and favourite targets Eddie Murphy (Worst Actor for “Imagine That”), John Travolta (Worst Actor for “Old Dogs”), and Megan Fox (“Jennifer’s Body” and “Transformers 2”). Young sensations Miley Cyrus (“Hannah Montana: The Movie”) and “Twilight” megastars Robert Pattinson (Worst Supporting Actor; Worst Couple), Kristen Stewart, and Taylor Lautner (Worst Couple) received nominations as well.

After the rejoice and buzz on Beyonce’s smashing wins in the Grammys, fans were shocked to see the “Obsessed” star nominated alongside Bullock, Cyrus, and Sarah Jessica Parker (“Did You Hear About the Morgans?”) for worst actress.

Not contented with bashing shining stars for 2009, the Razzies also took the time and effort to recognize the worst films and actors of the previous decade. Included as nominees are 8-time Razzie winner “Battlefield Earth”, “Gigli”, Ben Affleck, Lindsay Lohan, and of course their favourite Madonna.
