“Men in Black 3” and “Superman”, two of the high profile films which are currently on the mill are reported to be on hold due to the fact that the films are not good enough. These are all unofficial reports. Of course, no studio is going to admit openly that their big-budget tentpole film doesn’t have what it takes to go in front of the cameras just yet. However, there are rumors that both “Men in Black 3” and “Superman” or “Man of Steel” (as Zack Snyder’s Superman film is tentatively called) have script problems that must be straightened out before anything if filmed in front of the camera.
For “Men in Black 3”, the first phase of filming production started last November after a rumored creative disagreement between star Will Smith and the producers had already delayed the film about a month. However, original screenwriter Etan Cohen (‘Tropic Thunder’) was replaced by Jeff Nathanson (‘Catch Me If You Can’) during the film’s planned production break. He will write the second half of the script, which involves time travel to 1969. Filming had been scheduled to resume around mid-February, but now it’s been pushed back again in order to accommodate a new draft of the script.
For Sony, they still have a lot of time to complete the 3D extravaganza and they did not change the May 2012 release date of the “Man of Steel” film despite the delays it is experiencing. On the other hand, the delays on the Superman film may hinder Clark seeing the light of the day.
