Robert Langdon heads back to the big screen for Columbia Pictures follow-up to 2006’s “The Da Vinci Code” and 2009’s “Angels & Demons”, “The Lost Symbol”. Martin Scorsese’s upcoming thriller “Shutter Island” and “The Chronicles of Narnia: The Voyage of the Dawn Treader” scribe Steven Knight was tasked to create the screenplay for the film adaptation of Dan Brown’s latest adventure. Similar to the premise of the first two, viewers would once more follow professor Langdon’s adventure to Washington, D.C. to interpret the symbols of the Freemasons.
Despite the disappointment with “Angels & Demons” last year as it only grossed $486 million worldwide, Sony still has high expectations that “The Lost Symbol” is capable of drawing in both a massive crowd and huge numbers. In fact, the original novel managed to sell over one million copies for its first day release alone. Director Ron Howard and lead star Tom Hanks are both expected to reprise their roles.
