The big screen would finally feature the face of Katie Holmes once again as she comes aboard in the comedy ‘The Romantics’. Her film career had started to wane from the time she wed Tom Cruise in 2006. After her appearance in ‘Batman Begins’ and ‘Mad Money’ early 2008, she hasn’t booked a film to date for 2009. Holmes earns her time as she is also set to executive produce the independently financed film.
Taking in the role left by Liv Tyler, Holmes will star as Laura, the maid of honor in her best friend Lila’s (Anna Paquin) wedding. But there’s a huge twist as the groom (Josh Duhamel) had previous relations with Laura. Originally, filming was scheduled to begin this summer, but now the start of their shooting is moved to begin next week in New York. Screenplay was based from first-time director and long-time writer-producer Galt Niederhoffer’s novel.
In charge of production are Team Todd’s Jennifer and Suzanne Todd together with Plum Pictures Daniela Taplin Lundberg and Benaroya’s Michael Benaroya and Taylor Kephart. Completing the impressive cast are bright artists Malin Akerman, Elijah Wood, Jeremy Strong and Adam Brody.
Fans would be seeing more of the actress as she had just concluded filming for the comedy ‘The Extra Man’ and thriller ‘Don’t be Afraid of the Dark’ set to release on 2010 and 2011 respectively.
