The Twilight Saga: Unscripted Interviews

The heartthrob duo of Taylor Lautner and Robert Pattinson together with director for “The Twilight Saga: New Moon”, Chris Weitz took on Moviefone’s hot seat Unscripted interview. Missing a reporter, the three men themselves threw fans’ questions at each other for them to answer.

Rolling in the first dice was director Weitz as he addressed Taylor with the question: Would you rather be imprinted on by a werewolf or be a vampire but never find true love?

Sticking to his roots and his character Jacob Black, he proudly answers with a chuckle, “Yea, I’d rather be imprinted on by a werewolf.” Weitz sided in on the werewolves in this round as he commented “You’d never find true love that would be terribly sad”.

The resident vampire was next on the hot seat as Taylor asks him: New moon looks more action-packed than twilight! Were there any injuries on set?

Calm, composed, and with his trademark boring look he answered “I think I was injured. I think you made it easy for me not be injured.” Director Weitz injected in humor as he added, “we tried to work around your physical incapacities”. The trio ended in bouts of laughter at Rob’s hidden physical strengths and capabilities. Of course, Rob never failed to remember partner Kristen as he quickly added how she received several ankle injuries while filming.

The first Unscripted question was thrown to Weitz with Taylor asking him: How was it working with the cast you were given?

Weitz answered, much to everyone’s amusement “It’s delightful. Part of the reason I wanted to do this movie was I really liked the cast when I saw the first film. These guys are good, I could work with them.” As director, he believed his main role was to create an atmosphere where actors would feel free to express their mastered roles free from any dictations. Weitz holds faith that the cast would hold up to expectations adding, “And I just felt I was dealing with real professionals and you guys have done this before.” As talkative and hyper as can be, the director remembered his unforgettable experience with the cast and crew stating, “You’re all nice guys, very welcoming too. I was the new kid in the block. It was good fun.”

Continuing the flow of question Robert finally delivers a question back to co-star Taylor: If you could go back in time right before you were cast as Jacob, what advice would you give yourself?

I really don’t think there’s a way to prepare yourself. There’s no way to prepare yourself for this phenomenon”, says Taylor still surprised to be seated in the position he is now to which director Weitz could only agree.

The topic then shifts course to the actual production for New Moon as Taylor asks Weitz: Which scene were you most looking forward to shooting and which do you think will fans enjoy the most?

I think I was most looking forward to shooting the sequence in Italy, no disrespect I know you weren’t there, “says Weitz as he looks over to Taylor who acknowledges him with a small laugh. The director points out both personal and professional reasons for his choice saying, “It’s the most beautiful country in the world, I think. My wife and I were married there. We’re in this beautiful hilltop town. I just knew it was gonna be big and grand and gorgeous if we could get it right.” This was the same scene he picked as what fans would most likely enjoy. But he doesn’t forget the acting prowess delivered by Taylor adding, “There’s some lovely stuff with you and Kristen. Some really kind of intimate, very touching, melancholy scenes. Then there’s the last scene of the movie with all three of you guys, it’s all been structured the whole movie to lead up to this final showdown.”

Shifting back to the characters in the film, Taylor asks Robert: What are the best and worst parts about Edward?

For the star behind the heartthrob lead that is Edward, he believes the character’s loyalty contributes both positive and negative aspects to his personality. On the worse spectrum, his possessiveness seen in rare occasions pulls him down. Unable to answer the question straight, Rob throws the question to their director who agrees Edward’s loyalty compels him to make unwise decisions. He cites the choice of Edward in the first scene particularly as “pretty stupid”. Keeping the massive fan base in mind he adds, “I think I’d gonna be killed for that now. “

The second Unscripted question of the interview came from Rob directed to Taylor: Were you nervous of taking on, having to hold the whole movie? With Rob quickly clarifying between bouts of chuckles, “the second one. Not my responsibility”.

Taylor humbly addresses the question recognizing the cast’s effort saying, “ I mean I definitely think the whole thing is a team effort. It’s scary to think that it’s my job to bring alive the Bella Jacob relationship when you’re gone. Yea, it was a lot easier. It was easy with Kristen. To bring that relationship alive and with the help of Chris… I think overall this whole movie is a major team effort between the three of us making that dynamic come to life, and with your help behind us.

Weitz doesn’t pass of for the interview Rob’s persistent side comments of not being in the movie. Laughing he sarcastically tells the actor, “I think he wants his private life back. It’s not gonna work you know.

The last question for the interview and probably the most entertaining amongst all was for Rob: If you could pick the brain of one fictional character, who would you choose and why?

There was a long pause before Rob gave off an unexpected humorous answer saying, “I’m just thinking, I want to make it sound cool.” After bouts of laughter his face lightens up with a realization, “Actually no, Flounder from the Little Mermaid.

Both Taylor and Weitz were curious why the actor would pick a Disney fairytale character as his choice. They received the weirdest and funniest answer of the day from Rob stating, “You know it must be difficult… to be a talking fish.” Surprised, Taylor was laughing so hard he was pounding the chair with his fist. But then Rob adds another remark, “Well actually the crab, or was it the lobster? Oh it’s Sebastian, he’s a great singer.” The interview ends with the trio laughing warmly to the unexpected answer of heartthrob Robert Pattinson as he makes his interesting impersonation of Sebastian.
