People’s Choice Awards are held annually to honor the crowd’s favorites. Last night, the 2011 People’s Choice Awards were held and the Favorite Movie goes to “The Twilight Saga: Eclipse,” which also won the Favorite Drama Movie. The love triangle in the movie composed of Kristen Stewart, Robert Pattinson and Taylor Lautner all accepted the award.
Johnny Depp won as the favorite actor for his performance in “Alice in Wonderland” and “The Tourist.” The whole crowd went wild for Johnny Depp’s appearance in the ceremony despite his uber busy schedule. He received a standing ovation from the audience for his surprise appearance.
Kristen Stewart, on the other hand, won as the Favorite Movie Actress. She and her co-stars in the Twilight series went from shooting the final Twilight film before rushing to the ceremony. The award is very meaningful to Stewart, considering that she was passed over in the category of Favorite Movie Star Under 25 in favor of actor Zac Efron.
Adam Sandler won the award for Favorite Comedic Star for his crowd pleasing performance in “Grown-Ups,” which was the highest grossing live action comedy in 2010. The film also bagged the award for Favorite Comedy Movie.
In non-movie categories, Katy Perry took home the awards Favorite Online Sensation and Favorite Female Artist. “Hawaii 5-0” got the award for Favorite New TV Drama, while “$#*! My Dad Says” took home the statue for Favorite New TV Comedy.
The Favorite TV Guilty Pleasure goes to “Keeping up with the Kardashians.” Lisa Edelstein took home the award for Favorite Drama Actress for her role on “House,” which is also named as Favorite TV Drama. “Glee” won the Favorite TV Comedy and Jane Lynch took home Favorite TV Comedy Actress. The Favorite TV Comedy Actor goes to Neil Patrick Harris for his role on “How I Met Your Mother.”
Selena Gomez & the Scene won the Favorite Breakout Artist and Taylor Swift won the Favorite Country Artist. Conan O’Brien bagged the award as Favorite Talk Show Host against Oprah Winfrey. Lastly, “‘Single Ladies’ Devastation” won the award for Favorite Viral Video Star.
