Tim Burton can no longer surprise us with his work that is mostly remake of some of the original films. Who would forget the ‘Sleepy Hollow’? ‘Planet of the Apes’? ‘Sweeney Todd’? ‘Charlie and the Chocolate Factory’? ‘Alice in Wonderland’? How about the upcoming ‘Dark Shadows’? If there are films that were made, Tim Burton will be happy to make a remake of it and still instilling some of his own patented and slightly unique spin on the film. Tim Burton is unstoppable. According to HeatVision, Tim Burton and actor Josh Brolin are interested in collaborating together for a modern version of “The Hunchback of Notre Dame.”
The project may have to wait a while as Tim Burton is a busy fellow, but Warner Bros. already has Kieran and Michele Mulroney working on the screenplay. HeatVision added that this project is Brolin’s and that a full green won’t be achieved until Burton signs off on the screenplay.
If we will refer to the previous works of Tim Burton as indication of the casting, we will have to expect Helena Bonham Carter to play the role of Esmeralda all covered in CGI and, of course, Johnny Depp as the garishly-attired freak of some variety. Then again, maybe Mr. Brolin and the Mulroneys will bring something cool to the table and help bring back the Tim Burton we know and still love. The last version of “The Hunchback of Notre Dame” has been Disney’s rendition that was meant for kids. This could be the best comeback for the hunchback.
