Top 5 Actors to play as ‘The Lone Ranger’

Johnny Depp, super-producer Jerry Bruckheimer and director Gore Verbinski already conquered the seven seas with the successful franchise of the “Pirates of the Caribbean.” Now the trio will take on another project pertaining on the Wild West hero, “The Lone Ranger.” When the news broke that Verbinski will direct the film and Depp will play as the protagonist’s loyal companion, Tonto; it leaves the question of who will play as the “Lone Ranger.”

There have been rumors about the reboot of “The Lone Ranger” ages ago. Numerous attempts to resurrect the character and to start a successful franchise flop. This exciting news, however, is quite promising with Verbinski behind the camera. Here are the top choices for the lead actor of the film:

Jon Hamm – The leading man material actor can save every damsel in distress. He already showed his acting powers in the TV series, “Mad Men” and his latest film, “The Town.” However, we doubt that his age might be a hindrance to be in the friendly Disney film. We are also hesitant if he can pull off the stunts required in a great comeback.

Josh Brolin – We already saw him do a Wild West film as Jonah Hex. Although we believe in his superb acting, we imagine our protagonist to be a clean cut American hero. Brolin looks more like a villain than a hero to me.

Tom Hardy – This British actor starts to star in everything. However, because of his versatility in acting and undeniable good looks, he might be perfect for the role. However, Hardy got his hands full with four projects such as “The Dark Knight Rises,” “Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy,” “Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter,” and the reboot of “Mad Max.” If Verbinski want to release the film before 2013, Hardy is not the right guy.

Timothy Olyphant – The guy can don a cowboy hat without the need of being in a costume party. Moreover, his role in “Justified” is like a sheriff of the Wild West. However, Olyphant is 42 and it is not quite appealing to see two forty-something guys team up along with young, hot stars.

Jensen Ackles – You might be familiar with Ackles if you are watching “Supernatural” where he plays as Dean Winchester. With good looks and superb acting skills as well as a natural cowboy accent, we got the guy here!
