Twin Filmmakers From Gaza Search for First Feature Film Funds

You may have not heard of Arab and Tarzan but they are twin identical brothers from Gaza who have never gone to the movies. This is because there are no cinemas in the controlled place which makes the stories of these two simply amazing and impressive.

They are aspiring filmmakers who have gotten a lot of awards for their short film.

“Let’s be realistic. Our life is under siege, under control. People don’t have time for art. They spend all their time looking for crumbs. They say, ‘What use is art? Art will not give you bread,” the twins shared in one recent interview.

This may be true but it can certainly help them express themselves which is very essential to practice in a society that is very oppressive. Their short film entitled as ‘Colourful Journey’ got the first prize at the competition held by the West Bank city of Ramallah. It was also seen in London last March at the Mosaic Rooms.

Now, the twins were bought to Austin so that they can have their own first visit at the theater and they are being helped to get funds for the feature length version of their short film. They have currently acquired about $5000 from their utmost goal of $20,000.
