As Steve Carell told that he will leave the Scranton branch of Dunder Mifflin, Will Ferell will join the cast of the popular television show, “The Office.” Will Ferrell and Steve Carell work together in “Anchorman.”
According to the Deadline, Ferrel signed a four-episode contract in the TV show. NBC hasn’t announced yet when Ferrel’s episode will air. However, it is confirmed that he “”has committed to one episode beyond Carell’s finale, to help create a bridge,” NBC said.
Will Ferrell is a big fan of “The Office.” When he learned that Steve Carell will leave the production, he called the producers of the show and offered his services to commemorate Carell’s departure. Ferrell will play the role of a Dunder Mifflin branch manager from the home office, which is Steve Carrel’s character as Michael Scott. NBC commented that Ferrel’s character is “just as inappropriate.”
Ferrell’s character could lead to the search for Scott’s replacement or he could be Scott’s replacement. Ferrell started his career in television in mid-1990s on NBC’s “Saturday Night Live.” Although he made it to the silver screen, he still goes back to the television industry.
In terms of Ferrell’s casting, “The Office” exec producer Paul Lieberstein said, “We found Steve Carell when he was nothing but a movie star and we turned him into a television star … We are proud to continue ‘The Office”s tradition of discovering famous talent, and we hope that once America gets a good look at Will, they’ll see what we see: tremendous raw sexuality.”
