‘Jack and Jill’ Movie Review

Here is another Adam Sandler classic that is about growing old, relationships and getting scared to die all alone. This was how Sony Pictures somehow promoted this movie. One thing is true about this movie that you would not expect: it is one of the most depressing movies you will ever get to see on the big screen. With that said, you can also consider it as one of the most important movies made this 2011.

Adam Sandler plays the role of twins and for you to understand one character from the other, you must dig deep into them both. The character of Jack is an accomplished director of commercials and he has all the success someone can get from the world; but he feels empty deep inside. He somehow takes out all his anger and frustrations on his twin sister, Jill, who wants his love and certainly does not want to face death alone. But of course, Jack is there to reject always what his sister requests of him. It was only when Jack dressed up as his sister did he feel what she has always been going through.

To be honest, during the days when ‘Jack and Jill’ was still in the works, I almost believed the critics when they said this would be a flop. Anyone would be impressed with the amazing performance of Sandler that this one’s so much better than the dramatic comedy ‘Spanglish.’ This is a difficult movie to watch with all the depressing events in the film. Yes, it has hints of comedy, but if you are a serious person, then you would realize the antics are far deeper than it want to appear as just plain funny.

If you would reflect on it well, then you would see and feel the pain that the characters are portraying. It is not the worst film that you would get to see, it just needs a lot of your deep understanding to appreciate it well. There may be moments in the movie that makes it feel as if it is very dragging and lame but you will be convinced that Sandler is definitely not kidding when he did this one. He is not just here in this film to make people laugh but to teach all of us a great lesson to learn.

And do not miss on the interesting cameos that you will see done in the usual Sandler movie. Yes, you would see Johnny Depp and Al Pacino as some of the big names making an appearance in ‘Jack and Jill.’ The main verdict? Watch it for yourself and share to us what the movie will teach you as well.
