Stake Land’ is a film directed by Jim Mickle and is full of vampires. Right after the apocalypse of vampires, there were just a few of the humanity that remained. Things became more complex when a certain Brotherhood used vampires to terrorize the non-believers along the major roadways. Nick Damici plays the role of a gruff loner who teams up with Connor Paolo to take the open road and confront the vampires. ‘Stake Land’ may have had a strong potential only if it knew where its plot would really lead and end up to.

‘We Are What We Are’ is a debut film from Jorge Michael Grau which starts with a dirty man stumbling right down the sidewalk. Then you see his family trying their best to accomplish the goals of the family without the father in view. This is a film that studies the dynamics of a family and is really successful in telling a very interesting story. The acting and cinematography are totally top of the line despite its being very subtle.

Julia’s Eyes’ is a horror film directed by Guillem Morales from Spain that actually looks like a modern giallo. There are lots of familiar names involved in the film like Guillermo del Toro as the producer and Belen Rueda playing the film’s title role. It is a fast paced thriller that would remind you of films like ‘Wait Until Dark’ and ‘The Double Life of Veronique’.

Rammboc’, directed by Marvin Kren, is something about zombies instead. It highlights a group of individuals trapped in an apartment complex that are pushed to work together just to survive. This is a well crafted story for a film that is also very academic in nature.
