Once known as Repossession Mambo, Repo Men is an up and coming science fiction action thriller helmed by the direction of Miguel Sapochnik. What makes the movie interesting is its cast made up of Jude Law and Forest Whitaker.
The movie’s plot has startling twists and turns. Set on an alternative future, human beings can lengthen their mortal lives by buying these highly sophisticated artificial organs from The Union, a so-called mega-giant conglomerate. The shortcoming to all these life-prolonging miracles is that if you cannot shell out payments, the organs are brought back by some skilled and experienced repo men with no care whatsoever for human survival.
Jude Law plays Remy, one of the best repo men around who is struck with cardiac failure while on the job. He rouses to find himself integrated with The Union’s top-of-the-line heart replacement as well as a heavy debt. Forest Whitaker fills in Remy’s former partner Jake Freivald. The movie shoots a wild goose chase with Remy on his heels and Jake in pursuit, sent by The Union.
Repo Men’s screenplay is actually based on a novel written by Eric Garcia. Mindy Marin completed the casting for the film, David Sandefur handles the production design, Dan Yarhi deals with the art direction, Clive Thomasson manages the set decoration, and Caroline Harris artistically supervises the cast’s costume design. The film was shot in Toronto and a few places in the Greater Toronto Area in Ontario.
The film was to be premiered and launched on April 2, 2010 in the United States, but there has been a surprising shift and will be now seen on theaters this March 19, 2010.
