‘The Romantics’ Movie Review

At first look, you will get the impression that this is your stereotypical romantic-comedy with high profile star casting in order to get sure seats from the actors’ fans but offers very little of sense when it comes to the plot and storylines. However, treat this movie apart from the classic and typical romantic comedies you have seen.

The Romantics‘ revolves around a group of seven friends that are reunited because of the wedding of the two of them. Lila played by Anna Paquin is the bride and Tom played by Josh Duhamel is the groom. Lila chose his former roommate and best friend, Laura played by Katie Holmes, who was also Tom’s ex-girlfriend that obviously he is not over with.

The movie mostly centers on the love triangle of the three main stars and shy away on the supporting cast most of the time. The story of the three unfolds as the group talks about their past experiences the night before the wedding. The film does a lot of conversations and talking so you can expect a lot of strong performances from the actors. It deals mostly on what the actors are thinking and feeling that will lead to their life-changing decisions.

Paquin, Holmes and Duhamel will be joined by Malin Akerman and Jeremy strong who play the married couple, Tripler and Pete; Adam Brody and Rebecca Lawrence as the boyfriend-girlfriend Jake and Weesie; as well as Elijah Wood and Dianna Agron as Lila’s siblings.

“The Romantics” may not appeal to the whole audience, especially when you despise so much talking. There are a lot of hilarious scenes that are not overworked or forced puns and jokes. The actors did very well in their roles. Fell in love with this movie as it will be shown on September 10 in theaters near you.
