Alvin and the Chipmunks: The Squeakquel (2009)

Pop sensations Alvin, Simon and Theodore end up in the care of Dave Seville's twenty-something nephew Toby (Levi). The boys must put aside music superstardom to return to school, and are tasked with saving the school's music program by winning the $25,000 prize in a battle of the bands. But the Chipmunks unexpectedly meet their match in three singing chipmunks known as The Chipettes -– Brittany, Eleanor and Jeanette. Romantic and musical sparks are ignited when the Chipmunks and Chipettes square off.

I watched this movie this afternoon and although the humour wasn'tparticularly suited to my tastes it certainly made my 5 year old laugh(aswell as the other kids in the audience).

In comparison to the first movie I certainly wouldn't say it wasbetter, it was, however… almost as good. Animaton was spot on, humourwas good (not too over done), music choice, like in the first movie wasexcellent.

If you want to put a smile on your kids face this Christmas then youcould do a lot worse than Alvin & The Chipmunks.

It's worth remembering when commenting on this type of movie that it'sa kids film, targeted at an immature audience.

Overall, for amusement I would give it 7/10, my 5 year old 10/10
