After endless hype by many of Cameron's fans, Avatar has finallyarrived and it's a HUGE disappointment.
First of all, the CGI looks pretty good, but it's not the "gamechanger"people were expecting, the CGI still looks like CGI Secondly, this"script" is one of the most juvenile story lines ever written, as if akid wrote it and gave it to Cameron along with it's record $300 millionbudget.
Third, this movie is downright BORING for over two hours. All we get istwo Na'vis looking around on Pandora, and him learning more about howthey live.
Fourth, the final fight looks like something out of a video game, withmost of the main characters killed off in a weak attempt to make ananti-war film.
Fifth, Cameron wants it both ways, he wants an anti-war film, but yet,he filmed his final fight as a way to excite the audience afterenduring two long boring hours of his slow movie.
All in all, I like James Cameron, but I did not like Avatar at all.Easily Cameron's worst movie!

I was one of the millions of people eagerly anticipating Avatar, buyingany magazine that mentioned it, watching interviews with James Cameron, until the day finally came yesterday as I sat in front of my nearestImax screen, tingling with excitement.
And it didn't disappoint.
From the first 3D shots of Pandora, Cameron manages to engulf us intothis strange new world. Every detail has been considered, from thecurious new species to the tiniest falling leaf that hovers in front ofour eyes.
If the planet looks special in the daylight, as the night falls it isnothing short of magic, with its ambient glows and delicate attentionto detail. The world Cameron paints becomes somewhere we envy, somewhere we begin to empathise with, and therefore urge on thecharacters as they fall under human threat as it is cruelly destroyed.
Most criticism Avatar has had has been situated around its 'poor storyline'. This is simply, in my opinion, not accurate. I, like so manyothers, felt fully engrossed in the story, helped on no end by thelikable Jake Sully (Sam Worthington) and the wise and mystical Neytiri(Zoe Saldana). This combined with the indisputable excellence of theCGI ensure the audience is immersed fully in the plot.
Although it may be argued that the story line is un-original, it is theway it is told that truly makes the difference. Many films have similarcore stories, but it is how the film maker chooses to tell them that iskey. Avatar, seems to do so with such brilliance it at times becomesoverwhelming.
I left the cinema in awe, wanting to go back into this new worldCameron has created. And I will certainly be watching it again.

I saw this movie not knowing what to expect and loved it. I wasanticipating a version of Jurassic Park and it wasn't that at all. Seeit unfold before the content of the movie is common knowledge. It is abeautiful movie and to see it without knowing what is coming next isamazing.
It appeals to all ages but each age will leave the movie with somethingdifferent. My 16 year old thought it was a good movie, but didn't leavethe movie treasuring what made me think that this movie is a 10. It hasa lot of action and humor. Characters evolve as the movie progresses. Iwas in a packed auditorium and saw no one leave their seats.

I expect most movies being produced today to have a liberal bias ofsome sort, especially those coming out of Hollywood. Some are subtle, and some are blatant. The blatant ones are usually obvious just byreading a quick synopsis of the film. Avatar, in many ways, I think, tried to be subtle with it's "Green" undertones, and anti-warsuggestions, but it failed to be subtle after comments containing thephrase "Shock and Awe" were made, and when part of the ending narrativeincluded lines about the people returning to their dying world. Themilitary is reflected in a ruthless and inhumane light.
The visual effects, lighting, editing and sound are outstanding.

I am a still photographer, growing into film making.
I went with an open mind, with reservations about the 3-D, with glasses, quality.
At half way into the film I found I DID NOT HAVE A HEADACHE, like the older 3-D movies of the past.
Over all the technical quality was a 9 if not in fact a strong 10.
Acting supported the story line perfectly and this is the first time I remember who the actors were that played the characters.
Is it an Academy Award winner? Yes.
Categories: Special Effects in all areas such as CGI, 3-D presentation, and sound.
Then comes the music. Script a little weak, and finally the actors were I think middle of the road.
All in all I was not disappointed in the film. Absolutely worth the price of admission and in my case my 17year old grandson and I only paid $6 (ll AM in the morning presentation.
Now just a sideline on presentation. I will have to check to make sure but I think it was a digital showing and not a film showing, even though I saw it presented in I-MAX 3-D. The reason is that there were some quiet moments that looked “digital” along some of the edges of images. I may have been influenced by the fact you know it was a CGI film.
I was not disappointed. I think this was a benchmark, watershed technical movie. I will be buying it for sure, along with any mags or books about the film.
Like I say, story line and script was a little weak, but then it was definitely ENTERTAINMENT.
Go and see it, and sit back and enjoy the ride.

Avatar is one of my favorite movies last 2009. I watch it in 3D IMAX. It can be said that it is a must watch movie. The cinematography, sound effects, editing special effects; all are just excellent. The director has shown innovation in creating the Nav’s. These blue complexioned, monkey types elements are excellently featured in this film. Sam Worthington is wonderful.

Hello everyone, first of all, F*** OFF PeterJacksonRox you c**k munching, bellend chewing, p***y frightening, crippled Judas!
Secondly, Avatar is one of the best movies i have ever seen, it contains, in my mind, all the different elements a sci-fi movie needs. This film is nothing short of epic. It has outstanding battle scenes, brilliant acting and, most importantly of all, truly breathtaking environments.
The storyline is about a foresty planet called Pandora which is inhabitated by blue-skinned creatures called the Na’vi. There are also a group of military humans who have come to Pandora because they are looking for a type of small, grey rock which sells for £20 million a kilogram. Basically the Na’vi have settled on the most densely packed amount of the small, grey rock and the humans need them to relocate. So the humans create these machines which transfers the humans mind into Na’vi bodies called avatars. Then once the humans have been transfered into the avatar body they have to go and convince the Na’vi to move. Jake Sulley(Sam Worthington) is a paraplegic and his brother Tom Sulley(Sam Worthington) was supposed to be using this machine but died so the military asked Jake Sulley to do the job. However Tom Sulley had read up and had been trianed to use these machines but Jake Sulley doesn’t have a clue. Also Grace(Sigourney Weaver) and Norm(Some random guy out of “The Hottie and the Nottie”) are also going to use the machines. From there on in watch the story unfold.
Pandora is a mysterious yet beautiful planet and I had the luck to watch it in 3-D in IMAX. It did not dissapoint, the CGI was truly spectacular and I had no doubt in my mind that it would beat Titanic’s record of £1.843 billion made. For the first time while watching the 3-D I didn’t feel as if i was watching 3-D it just becomes part of the whole experience and it lived up the hype and exceeded it.
Avatar has been given alot of criticism for barely anything. The script may seem a little below the standards of the rest of the film but it is no worse than any other script for anyother films. It does sometimes seem clunky at parts and the story isn’t the most well thought over of plots but people say the ending seems predictable when it isn’t.
I appreciate you spending your time reading my analysis of avatar and i hope it has influenced you to go see it in the cinema. I strogly suggest seeing it in the cinema rather than waiting for it to come out on dvd and I also strongly recommend seeing it in 3-D.
Thanks
