When rivalry between the world's best men's figure skaters – sex addicted, improvisational Chazz Michael Michaels and germophobic, precise Jimmy MacElroy – breaks into a fight on the awards platform, they're banned from the event for life. Three years later, desire for a gold medal and a careful reading of the rules lead them to compete as skating's first male-male pair. Can they overcome mutual dislike, limited time to prepare, their coach's secret past, and the dirty tricks of their main opponents, the Van Waldenberg siblings? The key to victory or defeat may lie in the attraction of the virginal Jimmy toward Katie, the Van Waldenbergs' little sister.

When I first saw the trailer for this movie – i thought that it wasreally funny for words and wanted to see it badly. The poster for thefilm is the funniest I have ever seen.I always laugh when I see thisposter. When i went to see the movie at the cinema – the movie lived upto my expectations.I laughed very hard throughout the movie and Ialmost wet my pants.A lot of people in the cinema laughed so hard thatthey did exactly the same.
It was very funny and the clothes they wore were hilarious. Also theplot, quotes and characters were hilarious. Some of the funniest sceneswere at the icing rink and the scene where the head was chopped off bytheice skating rink. The two main characters Chazz and Jimmy got off toarough start in the beginning but became friends like brothers aftersome teamwork Some of the scenes may be unsuitable for little kids butIthought it was a very good comedy movie.I have seen this movie 5timesand hail this as my all time favorite movie. It is also in my opinionWill Ferrells best comedy.
First of all, a handful of questions……
What happened to subtle humor? Why do filmmakers like this think theyhave to kick you in the testicles to get a laugh, or is it justhilarious to them? Don't they ever have jokes that the audience has touse their brains to figure it out? Why does Hollywood put comedies downthe gutter, film after film? Do they think "sex" is the only funnytopic?
In this typical crude, obnoxious, sex-obsessed comedy of today's world, the topic is ice skating and, of course, a big plug (if you see it thatway) for same-sex pairings., Actually, story-wise – the film is arip-off of Zoolander and Dodgeball, which were much funnier films, bythe way. In this one "Chazz Michael Michaels"(Will Ferrell), a slob whoproudly admits he's "a sex addict," and "Jimmy MacElroy" (Jon Holder),apretty-boy small blonde guy who looks more the like the real-lifething, are both are thrown out of competitive ice skating when Ferrellstarts a fight on the ice.
Several years later, figure skating guru, "Coach" (John T.Neson)figures the boys could sneak back into competition by being pairs. Hey,whoever said you couldn't have two same-sex partners, he reasons? Ofcourse, you know the guys will quickly evolve from stooges tochampions.
Along the way you get the same old/same old bathroom jokes and sightgags in today's comedies, meaning nonstop sex jokes, guys with theirfaces in the other's crotches, guys with their skates and other objectsrammed into their groins, nonstop innuendos or gross-out scenes andgenerally low-life material we've come to expect from a Will Ferrellfilm. As for Holder, this is the first time I've seen him since"Napoleon Dynamite," and he's okay. I don't think he'll win any actingawards but at least he's isn't anywhere as offensive as Ferrell.
Hey, I like dark humor. It can be very funny at times, but Ferrell'scharacter overdoes it. Cut his crudeness and insults in half and youmight have had a semi-decent movie. Yeah, I know the character he playsin here is supposed to be repulsive, but it's overplayed to the pointof losing the humor.
Stereotypes? I won't even get into the gay issue with this movie. Howabout the villains with the big German names (Von Waldenberg)? How longis Hollywood going to hang onto its hatred of Germans? Get over it.
I was sorry to see real life skating star/announcer Scott Hamiltoninvolved with sleaze like this. I thought he had more class. The samecould be said for some famous other skaters of the past, but they onlyhad cameo appearances.
Finally, in this sex-sleaze "comedy," I see two of the writers wereguys named Cox. That figures!
