The harder the life, the sweeter the song.
Bad Blake (Jeff Bridges) is a broken-down, hard-living country music singer who's had way too many marriages, far too many years on the road and one too many drinks way too many times. Saw an early screening of "Crazy Heart". "Crazy Heart" is a very goodfilm for one reason. Many critics have praised it and will continue todo so. Many critics will write it off as "just another washed-upmusician struggling to overcome their addictions and weaknesses andmake sense of things", etc. In a way, they are right. In a way, this isanother one of those movies. But, because of Jeff Bridges' absolutelyamazing performance, this film is more than that. If you want to see anactor breathe real-life into their character, endow truthful subtletyin their part, and absolutely nail a role that they were born to play, then you need to see Jeff Bridges rendition of Bad Blake. I believedthat Bridge's portrayal of "The Dude" in "The Big Lebowski" was theessential role of his career, but after seeing this performance, I'vechanged my tune. It's true that we will not be witnessing cinematichistory with the incredible plot or awe-inspiring film-making. However,if you are a fan of acting and want to see one of those performancesthat comes along every once in a rare while, please check out thisfilm.

Despite claiming to be a ‘Ghazab’ urban cowboy, CrazyHeart is a run-of-the mill rom-com that only rises above the regularproduct courtesy of the great performances and taut direction. The endresult: it’s a one-time watch for the excellent performances.

The only thing more beautiful than Bridges’ performance is the song”The Weary Kind,” which is submission for Best Original Song for theAcademy Awards. This is one of the best songs written for a film in thelast ten years. Delightful lyrics and exquisitely executed, the songone of the rare occasions of the perfect song for a perfect film, giventhe film’s nature.
While Crazy Heart doesn’t offer anything insightful to the realm ofcinema, it’s simple, uncomplicated, and honest, which you can’tappreciate. For a first time out, Cooper does an admirable job.

The cinematographer does a good job of showing us the small-town. Afterall, there are only so many ways you can portray the same city oncelluloid. The editing is good and consistent, save for one occasionwhen a journalist discovers the real man behind the musician. To befair to the filmmaker though, it could have been deliberate. The visualeffects, though present for only a short duration, are good.
Final Verdict: Despite claiming to be a ‘Ghazab’ urban cowboy, CrazyHeart is a run-of-the mill rom-com that only rises above the regularproduct courtesy of the great performances and taut direction. The endresult: it’s a one-time watch for the excellent performances.
