I wonder how many married couples out there can attest to theirlifestyle being nothing but revolving around work, family andespecially kids, with the latter just sapping whatever free time theyhave in their waking hours, only to find themselves stuck in awash-rinse-repeat cycle. The film examines in a comical fashion ofcourse, the lifestyle of the typical family with working parents andyoung children, and how there isn’t anything known as personal time, and having routine becoming the rot in their lives.

Tina Fey + Steve Carell = A funny and surprisingly heartwarming film.Their on-screen chemistry was absolutely top-notch. As parents it wasevery little thing a parent would say and do. The biggest reason thatmade this film good was how simply and easily one could connect. "DateNight" is a movie about a couple, named the Fosters, who are running inthe biggest rut of their life. They want to spark it up, and decidethat one night they will change up the routine.
What follows is a nice mix of comedy and inner conflict that bind themoviegoer deeper into the story. The moments of heart-to-heart talkseriously reminded me of a John Hughes-like-film. Both Tina Fey andSteve Carell showed another aspect to their acting, and I must say thatthere were moments that could make you cry– from laughing or fromunderstanding. This movie had many of the traits I enjoy in a comedy. It is what I believe many comedies in this world lack, and that is theserious connection a moviegoer… or an individual has with thecharacter. And this is not just any old connection, but one in whichyour very stomach churns or heart palpitates because of what you see onscreen.
The moments of reflection and character complexity are small scenes buthold up much of the content in this film. I don't want you to thinkthat this is all some soap drama bullshit because it's not. There isalso plenty of hard-to-breathe moments where you can't stop laughing.
The diner scene at the end could pull some of the biggest tears out ofthe most emotionless scum on the earth. It was adorable and I couldfeel the relationship the Fosters were experiencing. I kinda wished Ihad a girl I could say any of that too. It's a moment I think we allyearn for but never really get to have. Then again. I'm only 17, sowhat the hell do I know? Kudos, to the writers for masterfully writingsome emotional dialog.
Overall, it was very enjoyable and a film I would definitely love tohave in my repertoire.
