Due to extensively negative word-of-mouth omens deterring me fromseeing this movie sooner, I was pretty well prepared for a majordisaster here. This is an overly drawn out, horribly constructed murdermystery that seemed like an over blown Twilight Zone episode. Astraitlaced college student is abducted, held captive and tortured byan elusive killer. She is found weeks later in a ditch barely alivewith her right arm and leg removed as well as a significantly alteredpersonality – claiming herself to be a stripper raised by a junkie. Theauthorities are baffled by her recollection of a completely differentpast lifestyle prior to the kidnapping while the killer remains atlarge. Even while playing two different character persona's, LindsayLohan still manages to come off as painfully one-dimensional. This hasto be the worst (or maybe best) example of miscasting I have seen in along time. Obviously, this was intended to be a "break through" rolefor her, yet her bland demeanor drags down what little potential themovie had to work off of. The storyline, however, noticeably had aknack for repeatedly branching into fortuitous and extremelyunnecessary segments, which left a gaping hole in through the majorityof the middle part where the prevalent 'story' should have gone…While the movie continues to be uninteresting, it leads up to acompletely forced and obnoxiously confused ending, typically conveyedas a big "twist". Watching this movie, I was bored and anxious for itto be over… Hollywood rubbish!
I thought this movie was great! I was unaware of the bad ratings thatthis film got when I first watched it, I saw it on the shelf on thelocal video store & had to watch it as I'm a fan of Lindsay Lohan. Iwatched the movie & thought it was great how Lindsay went from actingin her Disney movies to a thriller. I looked online and saw that thismovie was called "the worst movie ever" and was completely shocked. Iagree with the people that were saying they were judging it based onher personal life. It's a real shame that people can't see this moviefor what it is. It's a really excellent movie that keeps you thinking:) So I really do recommend it to anyone & think you should at leastgive it a chance. I also loved Lindsay's acting & give this movie a 10.
What is striking about this film is how it has affected its intendedaudience. It isn't intended to be for general consumption and I hatedthe gore. But I loved that it was hard for me to figure out.
The best indication of how successful the script writer was is that thecomments from the people he was attempting to entertain show suchknowledge of films, create such beautiful turns of phrases, and OMGeven use "correct grammar", etc., etc. But I think I understand whatthe writer was trying to provide for all of us who were this stronglyaffected by the movie.
First of all, a writer needs to select an audience, and this guy surepicked a doozy of one. It must be the hardest audience to try toentertain. It takes one to know one, so he must be like all the othersof us who have written comments (I'm basing this claim upon havingskimmed 20 comments). I believe that his script was aimed at the mindsof everyone who can almost always anticipate a minimum of 90% of the"twists and turns" in any plot and often even the exact dialog thatwill appear on the screen within the next 15 seconds to 120 minutes orso.
It's so easy to watch a movie and roll your eyes because the people whocollaborated on a script weren't as empathic, intelligent, creative, ornontraditional as you are.
But for someone to actually be this successful in touching the mostuntouchable audience of all with his first movie script… well, we allbetter keep our eye on this guy.
Oh, and although I could hammer so many aspects of the film, I LOVEDthat in my case my usual ability to predict what would come nextdropped from 90+ to maybe 20%.
There is nobody in an audience as sophisticated as this who hasn'tknown all their lives about the basic concept underlying this movie. But ask your self this… what might the movie have been like if ascriptwriter like this hadn't written it? Would the surprising impactthis script had upon you have inspired you to leave any commentwhatsoever?
I think the plot was real good. It was too long though. The acting wasnot very good. There was not a scary scene in this movie. There weresome interesting and good torture scenes, but they weren't scary.Overall knowing that the acting was going to suck, I rated it higherthan other people. As far as the stripper scene, they should have justleft it out. It was terrible, I can dance on pole better than that, andI am a man. The movie is rated R, if your going to have a stripperscene, make it realistic. I wouldn't go to a club to see that. I onlywent for 2 or 3 smokes during the film so I missed some scenes. Maybethat is why I rated higher. One thing that is funny. This movie doesnot show the FBI as the smartest people in the world. If this was areal case. They would have solved it the minute they found the firstbody and would have picked up the serial killer 10 minutes later.
I went to London Last week and got this movie for only 4 Pounds. I reada very tasty preview in my favorite film revue called "Mad Movies". Soin the late evening, I was a bit surprised to figure out how muchRazzie Awards Chris "The Lost" Sivertsons latest effort won. But Ididn't care so much because I disbelieve the hype surrounding thisceremony (which is organised by guys who confuse movies failing to findtheir audience and really bad movies). So I decided to clear up my mindand make my own opinion. I figured this out: it's so easy to hate apicture only because miss Lindsay Lohan's private life appears intabloids headlines. It is also easy to spit on a movie when you leftthe theatre, even if, I have to admit, one of the first sequences isreally hard to watch. But "I know who Killed Me" is neither some sortof a "career pusher" for its starlet, nor a torture porn (as I fearedit would be at first). It's just one of the most genius DTV movies Isaw in the last years. At first, you have to know that I'm a huge fanof Brian De Palma and Dario Argento, as is probably the directorhimself. Before talking of miss Loan's performance, I was seduced bythe movie atmosphere. Lighting and camera direction (John R Leonettidid a great job, as often) sent me back in the first period of two ofmy favorite filmmakers. But Siveston has his own touch and didn't justtry to copy his masterminds. One should try to understand the story asan ironical reinterpretation of the whole slasher genre. I also advisepeople who laughed when the killers identity is revealed to watch themovie's alternative ending. For sure, they will figure out what kind ofintentions Jeffrey Hammond and the director had. And also that both arehonest and clever enough not to leave that ending in the picture but tolet people think about what they experienced. Not every "wannabe" does. For me, the whole stuff is just amazing: Sivertson's direction isbrilliant (watch the image of the school fenced balcony at thebeginning -which looks like a piano- and listen to themusic),especially during the bus-stop sequence, scary as possible. Thecolors and the dreamy/poetic atmosphere generate a bizarre tone whichis in perfect harmony with what this YOUNG, GIFTED and CREATIVE womanhas to deal with. Even if I like Douglas Buck's remake of De Palma's"Sisters", I think it didn't reach the main point as well asSiverston's movie did. But loving Buck and sinking a promising newcomerwho works with Lindsay Lohan is so hype. Poor world. By the way, thisgirl is a good actress and she shows it here: you need much talent insuch a difficult performance and she is pretty convincing in nearlyevery sequence she appeared in. Julia Ormond is perfect as usual: I ammoved when she opens her heart to Dakota. So, if you want to get backto the late seventies, you shouldn't miss this movie; it's a "must see"without any kind of stupid twist in the end. I hope that Razzie's badpublicity will just make people curious. Good movies andbrilliantdirectors/screenwriters win over the hype! Hang on, Chris!
It's difficult to imagine a film getting all the way to production asbad as this one. Riddled with torture porn and meaningless editing, this could be one of the most awful movies I have experienced in mylife. The plot is incoherent and the acting is beyond terrible.
The constant flashbacks and confusing cuts to unknown locations andtime makes the film go nowhere fast. I actually attempted to watch ittwice just to give it a second chance to make sense, but I got about 30minutes into it the second time and started feeling sick.
It would have at least reached cult status or B-flick glory if itwasn't so tasteless and seriously gruesome. I suggest you save your 2hours of life and avoid watching body parts falling off strippers, waitI think I may have just made the movie sound good!
All I can say about this movie is that it's really pathetic when thekiller isn't supposed to be revealed until the end of the movie and youguess who it is and why 17 minutes in. It's even more pathetic if youkeep watching hoping you're wrong only to discover you were right, andthat you just wasted the other 88 minutes.
And that the rest of the plot that doesn't focus on who the killer is,is stupid anyway.
It's also bad when you're not really sure why you're supposed to careabout the protagonist. Poor Lohan. Even her hotness wasn't enough toredeem any of this movie.
Maybe if you're going to spend 12 million producing a film you shouldfind a writer with a little more experience making movies than NONE.
I'll be frank. The only saving grace is being able to watch LindsayLohan pole dance. I think we've discovered her true talent.
Lindsay Lohan gives a convincing performance as a pole dancer in a'gentleman's club' in this movie. Obviously, that isn't saying much. The acting is generally so terrible it's hard to take this movieseriously in any way. Only Julia Ormond seems to put any effort intoher performance although the director/writers didn't do her any favorsby giving her a character with no substance (like the rest of thecast). Sometimes a movie can salvage itself despite the poorperformances and lifeless characters if there's a solid and interestingplot or at least a semi-clever script to back it up. I Know Who KilledMe doesn't have this advantage either.
This movie has almost nothing to hold it together. I'm not claiming tobe a movie expert but this movie was just awful. The thought that 'thismovie is awful' literally came to my mind every minute or so while Iwas watching it (which happens extremely rarely with me). There areuncountable plot holes which are so annoyingly obvious that it's hardto watch without trying not to laugh or saying something along thelines of 'what the hell just happened?'. There was no explanation formany major plot points. Yes, I know plot holes are very common but theones in this movie are ridiculous. It's like the makers of this moviejust put a bunch of random ideas together hoping that the strip teasescenes would make up for it(for the guys at least ). There are tons ofunnecessary scenes and the attempts to make the movie seem edgy andunique is painfully obvious. I Know Who Killed Me is an example of amovie that takes itself much too seriously and it looks ridiculous forthat reason.
I didn't get the symbolism behind the blue roses. Maybe they were shownthroughout the movie because they were pretty. That has to make moresense than whatever the real reason must be (if there even was areason). I'm not sure whether they ran out of ideas or they, aftergiving up entirely, decided to try and please people who love seeingpretty girls in pain. Unbelievably, this movie managed to beconsistently bad even to the very last couple of seconds. The endingleaves no impact whatsoever that is, unless you were actually able totake this movie seriously. Shockingly, there are people who take movieslike this seriously. That's what surprises me the most.
Fun fact: this won 8 Razzie awards including worst excuse for a horrormovie and worst actress (Lindsay actually tied with herself for thisaward).
Before I begin my rant, I don't think this Lindsey Lohan girl isparticularly standout attractive or anything. she comes across as thehardcore social bitch who would f''k all her male friends (a'holes, freshmen, whoever) and perhaps do some girl-on-girl action if she gotdrunk enough… and she has a nice voice, but that's about it.
this movie opens up like a scream/i know what you did last summer typeof horror. later it goes for visceral not for the squeamish horrorscenes the likes of which you see in Hostel and The Texas ChainsawMasacre. later it turns into a kinda head-fcuk movie and your not sureif the character is in a dream, on drugs or what, THEN after that itbecomes this supernatural/horror, and attempts to sloppy touch onpseudo-intellectualism, and there's plenty of plot twists folks! BUTnot fight club/ memento, more like 'laugh out out, that was f''kin somesloppy sh't right there!' the plot is very convoluted, and has beenknocked up real quick. there are visions of what the serial killer islike who talks non sensical BS that's somehow meant to be a clue orsomething to the overall plot?? So, 3.7/10. watch it if you've haveabsolutely nothing to do, or like gang bang actresses like this LindseyLohan.
That girls got a screw loose! That’s why I am fasincinated by her.
