Wow, this was bad. I really have to put my foot down and stop lettingmy wife subject me to such utter crap! Why are women drawn so much toany movie that features a wedding? Ugh, I could make a really long listof all of the things that just annoyed the hell out of me from thisformulaic cliché-fest! For one thing, I am so sick of all of these"romantic comedies" set in Manhattan! Also, all of the characters wereone-dimensional cyphers. People act in stupid, unrealistic ways onlyseen in movies and not in real life. Plus, the lame attempts at humorwere pathetic and immature.

The main guy, who of course has to be rich by some inane invention, ora "lovable loser", played by the inexplicably popular Patrick Dempsey, was a grade-A jerk that women cannot resist. This is shown in typicalHollywood fashion, with women constantly throwing themselves at him insuch embarrassing ways in which women in real life would never do. Atone point, a woman jumps on top of him, screaming "service me"! Thisone-note commitment-phobe has all of these stupid rules he follows tokeep women from getting too close. He also has a female friend for tenyears that gets to watch him sleeping with all of these women for adecade, before deciding predictably that all of the women were slutsand she is the one he loves and should marry. Barf! Everything ispredictable and trite. The only parts that were vaguely entertainingwere the shots in Scotland. The only part that made me smile was whenKevin McKidd punched out the sniveling Dempsey. The part that reallyput this in the dumpster was the despicable Elisabeth Hasslebeck makinga bizarre appearance in some instructional video. Movies like thesecould be used to torture the average guy!

Made of Honor is a a typical Hollywood romantic comedy. From thebeginning of the movie, one can predict how the story line is going tolay out and how the the movie will end.

However, this movie is very, very funny. It will keep you laughing fromthe beginning until the end. I found it much more entertaining than Howto Lose a Guy in Ten Days (which until this movie was my favoriteromantic comedy).

Guys, this is the perfect date movie! It is a romantic comedy, yes. Thedifference between Made of Honor and any other romantic comedy is thatfact that it is from a guy's perspective. You will finally be able toexplain how these situations are for guys. Your date will be veryentertained and will laugh throughout. If she doesn't laugh, she has nosense of humor and is not for you.

Even though Made of Honor is the pretty predictable, it adds some spiceby showing the guy's perspective and adding quality humor!

Sometimes I'm literally amazed at the load of horse dung that comes outof Hollywood. This movie is no exception. This was clearly a formulamovie, something produced to generate revenue and nothing else. I'mguessing someone in Hollywood was sitting around, trying to come upwith new angles on old spins, and they blurted out, "Let's make a manthe Made of Honor." Then they wrote a dry, bland, done a thousand timesbefore script. The sad thing is, people actually pay to go see thisstuff. Don't waste your time.

The acting is ho hum. The storyline is a mirror of so many otherstories. And the overall intelligence of the characters and their lifepath decisions is insulting. And the ending…well, it's pure fantasy.Something only school girls' dream of. Which is probably the targetaudience for this movie.

When I watch movies like this, and yes, unfortunately, sometimes I do,it makes me wish they would have just donated the money to the homelessor the starving. It would have been money better spent. If you're goingto watch this movie, get ready to do some serious snoozing. And maybesome "dejavuing" too. I give it a D. And that was being nice.

So just why is it that we are meant to side with this ridiculousAmerican jerk? This is the guy who apparently has the looks andcharisma to have a neverending stream of the kind of gorgeous womenmost of us can only dream of willing to jump into bed with, yet hetreats them like dirt. Just what his lifelong pal Hannah is doingwasting her time hanging out with him, heaven only knows, and finallyshe meets a decent guy Scottish man, Colin, and they're going to getmarried. Good on her is what you should think, yet this film steers youaround into thinking that the womaniser jerk is the one she should havebeen with. He may shag around, but hey, he strokes dogs. Off they go toScotland, but not the real Scotland, but the stereotypical one in whichthe people speak Scots, toss cabers, live in castles and generallyeverything is a bit scary and weird. A couple of cheap shots suddenlymake us feel that perhaps Colin isn't quite the Mr Right we were led tobelieve (the cake bit was just plain corny, and though I am no fan ofhunting, at least Colin's meat is won naturally and not factoryfarmed), and along comes our womanising pal to walk straight into theirwedding and declare his undying love for Hannah. I mean what is it withthese romantic movies and people walking in on other people's weddingsand declaring their love for one of the supposedly happy couple. Isthat the kind of thing we should be encouraging? Coz I know I wouldn'tappreciate it too much if it was my weddding. Yer man had his chanceand he blew it, tough s**t, and should never go ruining a supposedfriend's wedding with his fits of jealousy. I was so much hoping thatHannah would tell him to p*ss f their and then, but sadly that's notthe kind of ending Americans can deal with, and so we get the clichédhappily ever after nonsense. At least Colin managed to get one punch in- he should have killed the guy. It's just so annoying. The guy is acomplete and utter pillock, and basically this film is an insult to allof us guys in the world who actually do know how to care about thewomen we are with, and who don't just bed as many as we can for thesake of… well for the sake of what I'm not really sure. I'm not surewhat kind of values this film is trying to portray, but it's got it allwrong. The only thing I can see is that regardless how much of ascumbag you are, if you are American, you are still going to be abetter partner for anybody than a Scot. I just found it irritating, sadly the girlfriend thought it was hilarious and immediately made ussit through it all over again.
