This movie is a story that is been told before, just not as poorly. Thecasting was poorly done. Ali Larter is not a seductress and Beyonce isnot an actress. This movie had to be done done by a man as the femalesare very shallow. No wife would be distrustful as quickly as this onewas in a marriage where there had never been infidelity. II also don'tknow a female that could obsess to the point that this woman did insuch a short time. I painfully sat through the movie and was rewardedwith one good scene. Ali Larter is a great actress and this role wasbeneath her. The main actor was exceptional. If there had been a moreseasoned actress playing his wife, the movie would have had moresubstance. With a different female cast, this would have been a movieas gripping as Fatal Attraction. I didn't expect this to be a greatmovie, but I didn't expect it to be so bad.

1st of all the critics really slammed this film too much. It gives youwhat it promises, it thrills. it may not be Oscar material, but it istruly a ride you want to take. Remember, it's a thriller aboutinfidelity, fantasy, domestic issues, revenge, and ultimately, obsession. The acting is good, especially Larter as a devilishtemptress, Lisa, who has feelings for a big shot boss, Derek, played bythe great Idris Elba. She's knows that he's off limits, he has a kidand is married, the gorgeous Sharon, played smartly by the queen divaBeyonce'. But that doesn't stop her from setting traps in order forDerek to be with her. They all backfire, so she just tells him how shefeels. he rejects and she soon starts to loose it insanely. She beginsto stalk the family and now its war with her and the now unhingedSharon… Leading to the best girl fight in film…get obsessed overthis ride that never slows down..

Obsessed is a thriller involving a man named Derek (Idris Elba), hiswife (Beyonce Knowles), and his stalker (Ali Larter). It is a thrillerwe have seen many times before (hello Fatal Attraction), and while it'sno Fatal Attractionn, it's most certainly entertaining. If it's a mess, which it is, it knows what kind of mess it wants to be. It's certainlyan entertaining mess. Even though Elba, a very good actor is a littlebland for his role, he's certainly still good in it, he's just thattalented. Larter is doing her usual spunky, crazy, sexy woman routine, and it works nice here. Knowles is doing the crazy wife routine, andshe certainly does it well. The movie's build-up all falls apart in themiddle, and the movie is very predictable. I could say you could saveit for free cable television, but if it's not on for free, and you feellike being entertained, this must be somewhere in the top ten films toturn to. This certainly is a thriller in which you see every twist andturn at every second of every scene in every piece by piece clue. It'snot a great movie, but an entertaining one. I wouldn't recommend it,but I could see myself owning the DVD so I have something to watch whenI want to see an entertaining thriller that doesn't require me to usemy brain at any second of the film.

Hearing this was another "Fatal Attraction"-like adultery thriller, Iwasn't excited about watching Obsessed with my father. I only agreed tosince it was a NetFlix delivery. Well, it's not really like FA anywaysince Lisa (Ali Larter) and Derek Charles (Idris Elba) don't reallyfool around at all, it's just Lisa putting the moves on him which hekeeps rejecting! The closest it happens is when she drugs his drink andthen rapes him when he's asleep. What really gets me is all the plotholes like how can Derek's wife, Sharon, (Beyonce Knowles) contact Lisaby phone when she rarely had anything to do with her at all beforethat? Or how can that babysitter just give that phone to Lisa (not tomention let her in in the first place) and then not take the phone whenLisa offers it to her to "prove" she talked to Sharon? And why didn'ttheir toddler boy cry when Derek and Sharon were arguing? And where wasthat boy during the last ridiculous sequence? Not to mention havingthat gay male receptionist actually revealing Sharon's whereabouts toLisa after much of the plot that happened? Also, how wasted were theparts of Jerry O'Connell as Derek's office associate and ChristineLahti as Detective Reese who investigates Lisa's crimes? There weresome twists I liked such as when a police car siren blared when Derekwas leaving his first sexual harassment with Lisa, they didn't stop himfor DWB (Driving While Black). Also, when Derek was going to report theharassment to his superior, I felt a little relieved when it wasrevealed that Lisa had quit but I also knew that wasn't going to lastlong. So in summation, if you still want to watch this after all I'vewritten here, be my guest. Otherwise, you're probably better offavoiding Obsessed.

My first thought is, "Why is this movie only 4.2 on the IMDb scale?"All the main actors do a credible to good job in the role they play. But I suppose for me the story, as presented, was never very crediblefor a serious drama.
In the big business workplace if a "temp" acts strangely at all, youget rid of them quickly and easily. That's the advantage of hiring a"temp", you have no obligation if they don't work out. The storypresented here requires that very strange behavior be overlooked thenext day, in the hopes "it will all go away." Well it doesn't allsimply go away, and there we have the movie.
Idris Elba is good as Derek Charles the successful and popular moneymanager. He is married to Beyoncé Knowles as Sharon Charles, and theyhave a cute baby boy (played by a set of twins.) They had met at theoffice, so this sets up a possibility that he is a "player" and neversatisfied.
Ali Larter is the "temp", Lisa Sheridan, who seems almost other-worldlyefficient. Right away she decides she will get Derek for herself, eventhough he assures her that he is happily married, he loves his wife, there is no chance that he and Lisa will ever be anything more than twopeople working in the same office.
And, as we witness, every time she makes unwelcome and inappropriateadvances he rebuffs them, but his fatal mistake is not (1) telling hiswife about them and (2) doing something at work right away to quellthis. So, the advances get more aggressive and more strange, and Derekbecomes more perplexed about what to do.
Well all this sets up a rather well publicized (in the trailers)showdown between the two women and, since it is a Beyonce-producedmovie we know how that will turn out. Much of the movie has a "FatalAttraction" feel to it. There are elements of "War of the Roses" inthat last scene, and through most of the movie music reminiscent of"Basic Instinct" can be heard.
It is in many respects a well-made movie, just a story that isn't verybelievable, and which reminds us strongly of several other movies wehave already seen.
