I was ecstatic to hear that Robert Rodriguez was Directing the Predatorfollow on. Relieved then to find out he at least stepped into theproducing shoes once removed from the Directors chair. All I can sayabout this film is it absolutely does not disappoint – and a muchbetter example of a franchise Reboot than the average showing of T4:Salvation. As a fan I was nervous of how it would turn out. I've alwaysbeen grounded in knowing that neither of the Predator films have beenmasterpieces (I'm disregarding both AvP films as both crap and separateentities). So when watching the latest instalment it was a more thanpleasant surprise to see the film running in the same vein as theothers I enjoyed.
The format is very 80s/90s yet the execution is modern enough for us tofollow respectively (For the same reason, I'm doubting The Expendableswill succeed in this way). Another joy was how Adrian Brody was mysecond favourite character next to Hanzo, the Yakuza hit-man. Hisacting skills made his unusual action stance actually believable (andto be fair, the fact he obviously hit the gym hard prior to filminghelped).
To wrap it up the ending scene was enjoyable and fulfilled my viewing. On a technical level this isn't bound for Oscar glory, however forsheer enjoyability for me this was as satisfying as Avatar.

First off i want to say that Predator is and will be one of my favoriteaction movies of all time. I like the movie. The story line is prettygood and its far more interesting then predator 2 or the avp series. Iam going to have to agree with the LA times because their reviewer saidthe first hour is really good and then it starts to lag. If you lovethe first movie you will like this movie but should not love it. It hasway too many homages to the first one and a hell of a lot more plotholes. The movie is fun, entertaining, and it should accomplish itsgoal by re-energizing people to the dead franchise. My biggestcomplaint was the homages to the original. Its OK to do that one tothree times but after that your just filling time.

Talk about being miscast, this guy Brody should have never been in thismovie, much less as the main star. A stick thin lightweight who lookslike a mime as an action star? I don't think so.
Laurence Fishburne is fatter than ever, and its sad to see him reducedto bit parts like this in the movie. Other actors are all no names anddon't make any impression.
Even the action sequences aren't very good, and there aren't enough ofthem either. I can't recommend this as an action movie or as a sciencefiction movie, its just pretty poor. And I am a big fan of sci fi movesbut this was very disappointing.

What can I say I was excited for this new Predator movie. Myexpectations were high & I walked away bummed out big time. I grew upon 87's Predator.Had it memorized word for word. Even now its one ofArnolds only movies thats withstood the test of time. I thoughtPredator 2 was/is a good movie & I enjoyed both AVP's on a purelyguilty pleasure level.Like an Ed Wood movie. So when it was announcedRobert Rodriguez was helming this thing I felt skeptical. The man cannottell a story let alone direct or produce in any cohesive fashion. Heyman heres a clue stories have a beginning middle & an end. Then thingsgot darker when Nimrod Antal was attached as director. Armored,Vacancy& Kontroll. A crap trifecta for sure. Then the trailers hit & theactors became known & things started to look up. Long story short Brodyyour a great actor but an action star…no way! The other actors yousay? Oh you mean there were more?! Didn't feel like it. Lets talk aboutthe predators. Sad to say that a movie monster from over 20 years agolooks better than the new fangled updated one we got now. Its like noone knew what made these creatures so awesome!!!! It was embarrassing. Also what made the human element so good was chemistry between theactors. That even if one or two were an a-hole you still were rootingfor them. Not here.Everyone was either playing to type or mimicking ascene from a better movie & badly.Except Fishburne who I typicallydon't like. Here he loosens up & grabs my attention then is quicklydispatched & completely wasted.Hell I would have rather have seen awhole movie with just his character than the 8 duds wandering aimlesslyacross the screen lost in scenery dialogue & all around bad mojo thatmakes up this 106 minute train wreck. The good news is that unlike Alienwhere everything hinges on Ripley Predator can be reinvented orre-explored. Trust me there are better Predator stories betterdirectors & better screen writers out there aching for a shot to make abetter Predator movie than this.So I say next!
