Taken (2008)
They took his daughter. He'll take their lives.

Seventeen year-old Kim is the pride and joy of her father Bryan Mills. Bryan is a retired agent who left the Secret Service to be near Kim in California. Kim lives with her mother Lenore and her wealthy stepfather Stuart. Kim manages to convince her reluctant father to allow her to travel to Paris with her friend Amanda. When the girls arrive in Paris they share a cab with a stranger named Peter, and Amanda lets it slip that they are alone in Paris. Using this information an Albanese gang of human traffickers kidnaps the girls. Kim barely has time to call her father and give him information. Her father gets to speak briefly to one of the kidnappers and he promises to kill the kidnappers if they do not let his daughter go free. The kidnapper wishes him "good luck," so Bryan Mills travels to Paris to search for his daughter and her friend.

Bryan Mills (Liam Neeson) is a man, who tries to reconnect with hisdaughter after spending most of her youth somewhere else than home. He's a bit overprotective, as he claims he's seen the world as it isand he gets more nervous, when he learns, that his daughter is leavingin France together with another young girl. And then his worstnightmares come true, when his daughter is kidnapped. But the reason, why Bryan was so much else where than home is, that he is a former, topnotch agent, who won't stop until he gets his daughter back.

At a first glance, you can say, that Taken is a cliché. And it is, butthere's no shame in that, when it's so damned well made one. Despite Iknew what was going to happen, I still managed to be thrilled andexited. I literally was sitting on the edge of my seat for the lasthalf an hour.

Good director, well casted and solid piece of action. All in all, wellspent hour and a half.

Okay this is a hamburger movie…by that I mean you go and order adouble cheeseburger with bacon…you know what you are going to get…acheeseburger with bacon.

I am kind of happy that they did this kind of movie…not a ransommovie that has been done many times. This movie takes a more honest anddepressing theme that girls are being taken for the sex trade. So itmakes you feel good when Liam goes around killing bad guys. The storymoves at a nice pace, does not have any yeah right scenes and hasplenty of gunfire. Any movie where they kill French people gets myvote…and in this there is a bonus they kill arabs. Wohho Moral of thestory…stay away from Paris…in fact stay out of France. Worth amatinée price.
