It's been six years since the Rollins family just up and left and now the troubled Solomon family has come from Chicago, to rebuild their lives following their sons hospitalization due to their daughter's drunk driving accident. But as they start to settle in something odd and strange begins to occur to their son. Could something supernatural be at work, and did the previous family just leave…or are they still here? Trapped in the only place they've ever known? And what did cause their deaths? Most of all…is this 'killer' still very much alive?

If you're checking reviews wondering if The Messengers is worth yourtime, then you are in the same position I was in last evening. Well, Igambled and it paid off big-time! The Messengers is a genuinely creepysupernatural horror flick with just the right balance betweenforeboding atmosphere and outright shocking scares. The sinister"entities" seem in the film are done perfectly – this movie scared theheck out of my wife and we are seasoned horror fans – it takes a lot tonot leave us disappointed. This is not one of the run-of-the-mill bombshitting video shelves in the past few years.
The acting was sincere and the tale was dealt with seriously – goodstuff to sit in the dark and experience!
Without being to precious, this film is totally enjoyable.Granted,it isclichéd,but how much horror ends up cliché.Fear is a basic instinct andis good material for a movie trip. This one is referential of othermovies of the genre.Crows acting menacingly, stark black ramshackledhouse, flashbacks hinting at some horrendous event.Pang bros have made atotally watchable flick that could be watched by anyone. Not necessarilyhorror movie fans.Minimal potty language which is a blessed relief andno gratuitous sex scenes.Meaning that it can be a hit with youngteenagers who tend towards terror movies.Beautifully filmed.Highlyrecommended as pure bubblegum and don't expect anything deep andmeaningful. No gore Igor.
The people who wanted to do "The Messengers" didn't want to dosomething original. So, sure, you can take an existing cult horrormovie and make it a horrifying (in the bad way) remake. But hey – howcan you choose, when there are so many movies?! So, "The Messengers"decided to take all the horror movies from the last couple of years andmix them together in this, so called, original movie. The movie triesto be slow, quiet and "peaceful" – so it seems – until it's revealed itis the cause of a very bad written script with no point in it (lineslike "You should talk to her" -"Okay", or "Are you alright?" -"Yes"just shouldn't exist in movies!!!). Other than that, all the bestclichés come around. We've got a hunted house, a problematic teenager,a creepy old man wandering around the movie, creatures that arebasically the cousins of the creatures from the 06' movie "Pulse",crows yelling every time something bad's gonna happen, and- duh-flashbacks. While trying to find all the best moments of every horrormovie, the people behind this movie obviously didn't had time to thinkof an original plot nor characters, so they kinda stole them from the02' movie "The Dark" (with Lena Olin). Like always, the heroine triesto find out the mystery behind the house (here it was with the help ofa dorky and unneeded friend. In "The Amytville Horror" Melissa Georgejust googled it). The movie goes BY THE BOOK as possible as it can, providing us the usual unscary "Boo"s and the unbelievable charactersthat probably need to be having a CPR by now, yet those supermans seemto be running and fighting as well for the rest of the week.
So if you've seen EVERY OTHER HORROR MOVIE- you really don't need tocatch this one.
