Michael Eisner will forever be known as the man that attempted tototally kill Disney animation. After the disastrous efforts of Home onthe Range, what was once a staple of the Walt Disney Company wasbecoming a thing of the past. Traditional animation was dead in Disney, and this was definitely one of the major contributors towards the shiftin upper-upper management and his departure. Now with Pixar and JohnLasseter on board, Disney pulls absolutely no punches in their returnto tradition. There’s a new princess, she happens to be black, and theyhappen to twist a classic story so much that you have literally no cluein which direction the writers were going. The major question is: canDisney revive its Renaissance quality that it experienced in the 90s?Can they ever duplicate such magic again? The answer is a resounding yes.
If you enjoyed the Disney Renaissance (From Little Mermaidto Tarzan, before the downfall spiral started), then it is up to you towatch this movie. This movie has all the energy, quality, sentimentality, and superb animation of the 90s Disney flicks, and isinches away from Pixar status. Pixar has saved Disney altogether, andPrincess and the Frog is hopefully going to save Disney traditionalanimation, granted it gets the praise and success it truly deserves.Unlike what we have been seeing in the past, Disney did not half-arsethis time. Blending the old-school qualities with a new-school outlookon where the status of animation and storytelling is headed, Princessand the Frog is a fun, entertaining, and fulfilling ride from start to finish.
…..even though he's been dead for over fifty years (and it shows). Itwould be a good movie for anybody who likes frogs and fariy tales. Ifwe don't do more things like this movie, more Columbines will happen. They kicked God out of schools and look what happened, Satan moved in.Exactly… either you are for Jesus or you are against him. This movieis fantastic. It is the truth, can't wait for more like it. We shouldbe training up our children to be honest, forthright, truthful, forgiving, loving and get serious about the state of the world. Ditchthe violent bloody movies and video games and get REAL. Some commentsmention, "brainwashing"…well I would rather my kids be brainwashedwith good things than what they are seeing in the movies of the worldand the video games of the world where they look down the barrel of agun. Canada, America…take note of the increasing violence and death, murder, suicide, abortion and get on the right road before it is toolate. Eventually you will know the truth….but if you are wrong aboutJesus, it could cost you your life. How could it hurt to love Jesus, doright and if you are wrong in the end….no harm done….not so withthe opposite. "The Princess and the Frog" appears to have been writtenwithout thinking mainly of these merchandising factors, and moresoabout returning to telling great stories with the kind of animationthat many of us grew up watching as kids.
