Many people who didn't like this movie claim that it's nothing morethan a rip off of 'Disturbia'.While it has the same look and almostrelative plot, I thought that 'The Stepfather' wasn't a rip off atall. There's really no reason to dislike a movie if it has the same lookas from another movie.I'll agree that there are some similarities, butthere's also a huge difference. In 'Disturbia', the killer was aneighbor from across the street. Here, the killer is actually inside thehouse and that's what made the movie interesting.I was surprised when Ifound out that the director made the very underrated film 'PromNight'.That film was released in 2008 and got horrible reviews.Thedirector of that film actually manages to make a better movie.Whatreally disappointed me was the ending. If you don't want to read theending, then I suggest that you stop reading write now.

In the end, the stepfather and the stepson fight each other, like'Disturbia'.They fall out of the attic window and they appear to bedead. The son manages to wake out of a come and his mom tells him thatthe cops couldn't find the stepfather's body. After that scene, anotherdifferent family meet the killer, who's obviously in disguise. The motherand killer shake hands and then the end credits roll. That I didn'tlike. What I did like was the overall movie, even if the ending was abit unnecessary.
