She finds a letter addressed to a woman called Sofi Kozma and a creepy picture at home that belonged to her mother. I actually enjoyed this movie, the average movie go'er shld enjoy it.the thing wth me is am a huge horror fan and the bottom line is …"itreally wasn't that scary i mean the plot was terrifying flat but thtsthe most of it, it was like a low budget SyFy flick. even so there'sstill a lot to be seen here if your looking for a horrifying…heartstopper keep on moving, but if u want a little story to go along wth ascare here and there this is your move. however half way through itstarts to get a little more intense and pulls you in a little if youenjoyed mirrors then you'll likely love this one give it a pep … PS:great date movie ……….

Kind of a tame CGI fest Hebrew Exorcist regarding a sexy young woman,Casey(Odette Yustman)tormented by a "dybukk", a demon which wishes tohave passage through her into our world of the living. It comes in theform of a young boy and will prey upon her friends and loved ones inorder to gain access to her, feeding upon her fear. She calls upon theexpertise of a rabbi(Gary Oldman, wasted in an underwritten role)tohelp her stop the fiend through the recited scripture from a tome knownas the "Book of mirrors", used in a ceremonial setting(..a place thatis upsetting to her, in this film the ruins of a mental hospital hermother committed suicide in) hoping to silence it.
Casey experiences strange nightmares featuring a dog with a mask. Shenotices a freaky ghost boy with creepy aqua blue eyes. In a nightmareshe uncovers a fetus in a jar buried under earth. Soon Casey's eyesslowly turn the same blue as the kid in her visions. Interestingenough, the terror starts after a romp in the bed with boyfriendMark(Cam Gigandet). Soon, a boy child neighbor becomes a tool for thedemon to warn others against associating with Casey or else, such asher best friend, superstitious pal Romy(Meagan Good). Casey discovers agrandmother in a nursing home, Sofi(Jane Alexander, carrying the burdenof explaining this hogwash to the viewer while keeping a straightface)who understands what's going on and is at first reluctant to tellher. Casey finds that her mother's deranged psychosis spurned from thedemon's presence, and only through her suicide was it held at bay.Something triggered the demon's reemergence and Casey must find out howto stop it.
The film has a glossy look(..that wintry gloomy shade of gray), thefilm is loaded with loud booms with the ghost boy pops up, and we get adog and man whose heads and spines contort and twist unnaturally. I'mguessing Oldman was thankful he was only in this for as short a time ashe was. The only positive I could come up with to see this drivel isYustman. She's quite easy on the eyes, and director David S Goyerfeatures Yustman in plenty of scenes in panties and as little aspossible(..including a shower scene where water dribbles down her nakedback in slow motion). I remember a trailer for the film which had herat least twice in a tight shirt and panties, and there's a photo on theback of the DVD as well. She's the new "model Angelina" girl, likeMegan Fox, with the nice petite figure and long raven hair. Can't act alick, but as eye candy, quite a few horny males might get some kicksearly on before the "demon theatrics" kick in. Try not to snicker atthis flick if you can. James Remar shows up in a couple scenes asCasey's businessman father, gone away all the time, who informs her ofa dead twin that died before birth.

I am not the largest fan of the recent horror movies that have hit theshelves and theaters. Especially. the contrived garbage that seem tohave a commercial with a larger budget than the film. Now that I havethat out of the way, let's begin by saying that there is only one goodthing about this heaping pile of film. The name….that is right…TheUnborn. I wished the director had adhered more closely to the name. Then, I wouldn't have wasted my time watching this with my wife who isan avid watcher of the horror genre. This plot driven pile is atrociousfrom beginning to end. I didn't even know the name of the maincharacter until the final 15 minutes of this horrible, disgusting, ideaof a movie. My time and energy would have better spent watching fecalmatter swirl around a toilet in a convenience store bathroom. Afterwatching this, I wished, I had been unborn. Please, I beg of you, donot watch this film. In fact, revolt against this and similar trashthat has infected the American movie theaters. As long as peoplecontinue to spend their money on rubbish such as this, it will continueto exist.

OK, so I get scarred by horrors when dreams blur into reality. But theplot made little or no sense. Even at the end we looked at each otherand said uhhh?
The acting was OK, nothing special. Some of the scenes were dis-jointedand a little confusing when they some scenes jumped so-far it wasconfusing until your brain caught-up.
The real question…where was Dad, he goes away for a week and leaveshis teenage daughter alone in a big house – what is he crazy. Then hefails to call her (at all). In the meantime she goes bonkers and getpreggo – now that's what I call a party.
Best bit? The dog with it's head upside down – how did they do that?!
Saying all that I was somewhat entertained by it.
Make up your own mind, but don't go the cinema to do it.
