This movie was absolutely pure trash. The acting was terrible, and ifyou've never read the GN before, the movie was just 3 long hours ofpointless twists and turns and crappy dialogue and even more pointlessgore and sex. And the gore and sex didn't even look good enough tojustify it happening.
And OH, the SEX SCENES! What the hell?? I did not ask to see soft coreporn, especially really TERRIBLE soft core porn.
This movie was such a complete waste of time, and I wish I'd neversuggested watching it. I'd heard it was bad but I never thought that itcould have been this bad.

*may contain minor spoilers, but just stop reading this, read thenovel, forget the film and move on with your life enriched by the noveland the 2,5 hours NOT spent on the film*
A reader of the novel, I watched The Watchmen with clenched butt cheeksfrom the start, cheeks Zack Snyder should have kept closed instead ofmaking this movie.
From the beginning I was agonized: some made up scene about a horribly,AND I MEAN HORRIBLY acted "discussion" about nuclear holocaust. This isthe end of the world they are discussing and these people aren't eventhe slightest passionate?
The references to the novel are out of place and make situations way toobvious. The beginning ruins the end and things said at some of thevery last chapters in the novel are packed in the first half hour. Thisis done because in the novel, for a long time, only Rorschach believesthere's truly a dire situation, BUT WE CAN'T MAKE A Hollywood MOVIEWITHOUT ACTION, DRAMA AND SUSPENSE NOW CAN WE? The "summery" of UnderThe Hood, which are pages from Holly Mason's autobiography in thenovel, cover things so hastily they feel very, very forced (especiallythe Silk Spectre being a lesbian which is quite a topic in the novel, here is a hasty detail), they set no mood and parts of them areentirely made up.
It just goes downhill. It's so strange how there's a novel in front ofthese writers, there's a script, sceneries, characters and they simplyFAIL to get any of it across. Especially Veidt's character completelymisses the point of him (and is terribly, terribly acted).
Rorschach is like a damn superhero, even though the thing that makesThe Watchmen great is that they AREN'T that, they are merely men incostumes.
*some details discussed to elaborate* Just the opening scene where thenovel CLEARLY shows Rorschach using the grappling gun to REALISTICALLYclimb the apartment building, here he gets pulled up by some freak ofnature device. We've all seen Mythbusters, it can't happen if you don'tclimb. One might say "It's a movie, come on" and I'd agree if it were aMarvel, I'd say "Meh, I guess" if it were Batman, but I say "No way inhell" when it's The Watchmen.
I also very much missed him trying to open that closet with sheer forceor lock-picking before finding the button, because it shows he's notsome super investigator. This may be considered a detail and menitpicking, but I feel I have a right to want to see the novel on thebig screen and not some sorry "butt with double s" adaptation, becausethe novel is LITERATURE. It doesn't require a remake by an arrogantHollywood snob.
On this subject, what the hell is that scene of him breaking in at Dr.Manhatten's lab? He's not a parcour expert or Spiderman or something! Then, he smashes the window even though two guards JUST walked away, but they don't hear a thing. *end details*
Enough detail bashing, the whole plot line is poorly rewritten, thewhole movie is poorly acted with Rorschach bobbing his head like apower ranger. Especially Silk Spectre II obviously has no idea whatacting is.
I've heard "We didn't want to confuse the audience" a lot during themaking of this movie, but honestly, I think Zack was just confused. Helooked at a brilliant piece of literature and thought "HUH? WHERE ISALL THE ELABORATIVE AND UNNATURAL DIALOGUE AT? HOW CAN I UNDERSTANDTHIS BOOK IF THEY DON'T EXPLAIN THINGS THAT HAPPENED IN THE PAST RIGHTAWAY?"
The endless adaptations and remakes are annoying, but at least most ofthem don't just butcher the actual concept. This is just Zack Snydersaying he's above a brilliant writer, saying Hollywood is better thanliterature.
7.9? Grab the novel, read it through, watch it again, THEN you'll knowwhat you're talking about. I'll never accept anyone calling this filmgood or even decent without realizing how poor it is in comparison.

I think this deserves a spot on the top 250 right with V for Vendettait has a brilliant plot, good acting (Great acting from Jackie EarleHaley), a lot of character development and stunning visuals, I'mappalled to see that this masterpiece bombed at the box office butthats probably because most teenagers were going to see it expectingThe Dark Knight.
The Plot is that during the cold war era when superheroes are outlawedand tensions between communist Russia and the U.S. are rising so Nixonhas a Figurative Metophorical 'Death Clock' always set 5 Minutes toMidnight.
The story starts when The Comedian (Jeffery Dean Morgan) is murderedand Rorschach (Jackie Earle Hayley) investigates it, But as soon as heinvestigates further he uncovers a plot to murder more maskedvigilantes.
This film absolutely blew me away as did the Graphic Novel because ofthe brilliant storytelling, character development, plot & specialeffects so I give this film a 10/10

Watchmen I saw watchmen the day it came out i have to say it is a verybeautiful movie and a very Entertaining movie. But was it a good movie?Yes it was a very good movie the story was changed from the originalbook a tiny bit. But nothing to freak out but Malin akreman was awufuljust a little complaint. The music some people thought was awkward butI loved the music. Jackie Earle Haley was fantastic as Rorsach so alland all. Watchmen is a great movie and an even better graphic novel soif you haven't read the book read it I've read it two times or see themovie it doesn't matter you'll enjoy every second of each one. 8 out of10 WATCHMEN. GENRE: Action, Drama, Mystery, Sci Fi, Thriller

This film was a 2 hour and 40 minute wait for something to happen.
Sure there were a few bits in there to make the time spent waitingpass, e.g. gratuitous sex and violence (Dizzee Rascal might love thisfilm)but nothing really came of it.
Ever bought a packet of fruit pastels only to discover that it's mainlyfilled with green ones and no blacks? Well, that is what watching thisfilm feels like.
I have not read the comic book, and probably never will, but it seems alot of the film I spent questioning things: do these guys have superpowers or are they just lush at fighting? why does the blue guy spendmost of the time naked?
